Folks, My wife has bought me an iphone (lucky b*****d, I know...) I was looking for some retro emulators for spectrum/c64 but not had much luck....any ideas? (I've seen a C64 was rejected by Apple recently). If anyone knows any free games that are good, I'd be obliged to know too. I've checked out the store and youtube but wondered if folk with more discerning taste than joe public (you!) have any recommendations. Cheers
If you want emulators then you'll have to jailbreak your iphone. As for good free games, try Tap Tap Revolution and there are a few demos of good paid games
Thanks for the tips..... If I jailbreak my iphone, what emulators could I use? (did a search on google, but apart from NES couldn't see anything much). As for games, I've found a few ones that are free and good: Trace AirCombat Pac man lite Terminator Lite (graphics good, but iphone is bad for fps controls) Minesweeper
Apparently Apple rejected a recent C64 emulator.... http://kotaku.com/5298652/iphone-c64-emulator-submitted-denied
I had my phone jailbroken at one point. It worked quite well, other than the frequent crashing and slowdown problems. It most likely was due to some add on, or program I downloaded. Regardless, I reformatted and now it just has factory settings and I am happy. Moral of the story, when you jailbreak do not go all download happy.
Found an app called Pandora's box on iPhone store...it's free and tells you all the new free apps for iPhone and also the apps which have gone free now (having been charged for before). Really useful, gives the games/utilities etc in categories....(it's not limited to games, it's any apps) Some free good games recently: Ragdoll lite Bubblepop Jellycar
If you like vert shooters get the excellent Sky Force-R. It really is as good as all the reviews say and it's probably my favorite game on the iPhone. Gameloft have recently released Castle of Magic, which also looks really good. I don't actually have this myself, but I reckon i'll get it soon. I have been playing a fair bit of Worms too...
Hey, thanks for the recommendation. Also searching for it in the App Store, I saw someone had ported freaking Tyrian. Anyone tried that, is the port any good?
Maddox loathes the iPhone for good reasons y'know. How do you get around playing without real buttons?
