February just hasn't been my month.

My wrist watch and ipod screwed up amongst other things.

    On to the problem:

    any ideas?

the physical symptoms are that the ipod periodically 'clicks' if files are to be transferred to it - and they eventually are never transferred. It should be noted that it could play all existing files just fine during playback.

I restored the ipod, but further to writing few songs to the HDD, it gave me the above error. I m guessing bad sectors, but I m not very experienced around ipods.

comes to show that hard disks are not to be trusted, especially when on the move.

    thanks

Are you still under warranty,my Ipod would sometimes mess up as well, but I returned mine and got a DSlite. Also have you tried using a different program to transfer the files.

No, i am not currently under warranty. I will use EphPod to transfer some files to test the theory later on.

Oddly, using EphPod 2 does not appear to hinder the ipod's functionality somehow. It shows that files are transferred as they should etc.

Thanks for the advice, what's the explenation though?

update, the disk itself has been damaged it seems. During playback songs skip, pause and the ipod makes horrid sounds.

    Too bad.

time to get a small toshiba replacement drive, I hope they re up for cheap o_O

click = hard drive, if it is a hard drive model.

Time for a new iPod! Or see how much Apple will charge... but its like £60 for a new battery, so......

you can change your own hard drive if it's not a 1st or 2nd gen ipod from what I ve read, for the apparent sacrifice of the FireWire interface (for some reason?)

considering though I got this ipod for 100 euros (+ a very good olympus digi-cam), I m not sure if it's worth shelling out another 100 euros/pounds to get the laptop HDD :(
