Hi, I am trying to get some information about an item of mine. It's an iQue Gameboy Micro, 20th Anniversary Edition, but with the rarer Famicom controller II faceplate. I don't have any packaging for it, but it all looks legit, with the logos on the rear of the machine in the right places for the model and region. The faceplate is a puzzler though, as the anniversary edition comes with the Famicom controller I faceplate as standard in the other regions it was released in. So, any information you may have on this one would be gratefully received, I am looking to sell it but need more information to accurately value it, so I don't ask for way too much, nor underprice the thing. Thanks
I don't know anything about it, but it's super-cool! As I'm sure you already know, iQue is the brand that Nintendo products are sold under in China, I guess the visual differences may just have been to set this apart from the Japanese unit. Now a GB Micro with square buttons, that would be something rare... EDIT: Someone in France is trying to sell one of the 20th anniversary GBA SPs for $700, but no takers. A regular iQue GB Micro went for less than $70 a little while ago, which isn't unusual for regular US GB micros. You can pick up a new Japanese 20th anniversary package for as little as $125 if you take the time to hunt around.
Ooh, me jelly... Can't help you with the value; you might have better luck with havin this moved to the price check forum.
I don't know the exact going rate, but I doubt it would be much better than other 20th editions. iQue products in China arn't exactly rare.
On the latter point, fair enough, but the anniversary edition is worth a couple of quid as it is, this being an iQue adds a little. The II faceplate is pretty nice though. Really, I wanted to know is this how they were sold in China or did someone commit the unlikely sin of obtaining a Famicom II faceplate from Club Nintendo then lose the original faceplate from the GB Micro.
what's the sin there? If someone wanted something like that, what's wrong with that? Some people here seriously treat collecting here like religion. That's sick lolz
Well, the point in selecting that particular handheld would have been to own something with a nostalgia factor from the outset, implying that it's collectibility is part of the attraction. To then go and remove the original faceplate, something that is worth a couple of quid, replace it with another faceplate that is even rarer and worth more... it's all odd. The only explanation I can come to is someone had it, swapped over the faceplates for a time, then either lost the device or lost the original bits and bobs, rendering it in it's current condition. Either way, as nice as it is I'm going to sell it on. Presumably there's someone out there who worships at the altar of Nintendo and would give a lobe of their liver for this.
I'll offer you two lobes, an ear, and a right toe for it. Final offer. Arnold Layne, serving High Priest of the Church of Nintendo
That's the problem, I don't know what it's worth! So, what to do. Is there a sales thread, I'm assuming its inappropriate to tale offers here.
Well, there's the User Marketplace of course, but unfortunately you don't match the minimum requirements to use it for selling yet... Guess you're stuck with PMs for now, unless you get someone to make an exception for you.
Ok, to answer your question: No, as far as I know these IQUE units do not come with player 2 face plates. It was added after the fact by someone.
Thanks for that. I've listed it on an Irish sales site as I don't have the post count here. A quick Google should find it.
Edited: *REMOVED CONTENT* It puts me off that this forum's staff took 3 days to approve my post that I typed whole-heartedly and with a lot of interesting information. I don't want to be a part of here seeing how your system is all broken. Perhaps, rethink your policies? Goodbye.
