I've always wondered about the PC-FX. Ive seen many pics of it and pretty much know all about it already and some of the games but I wanted to see if anyone here had a hands-on experience with it and the games. Is the system worth it? Any really good games to recommend?
Any games I can find for the PC-FX seem to be damn expensive. The games mostly seem to be these weird Japanese hentai 'dating-sims'. I though about geting one, but there's no shmups. I did find this however, http://www.videogameimports.com/get_hw.php?product=441 Interestingly, PC-FX pads and PCE Duo RX pads aren't compatable, even though they look the same. EDIT: Just found this. Not sure if this is a complete list of PC-FX games. Investigating now.... http://gamerland.com/games/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?what=system&id=94 and this.. http://www.digitpress.com/lists/pcfx.htm
There is one shooter for the system which you can see over at GaijinPunch's site - http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/game_information.cgi?system=pcfxa&base=zeroigar Yakumo
The PC-FX is a very cool 'collectors' system. The few people I know who have it, own everything for it, games, peripherals etc. Zeroigar (a shooter), is one of the few great games for this system. Some intersting RPGs/Sims are, Dragon Knight, Ah Megumi Sama, Der Langrisser FX, Power Dolls FX, Queen of Queens and Team Innocent. ^_^_^
Aaron said that the site PCEngineFX will be back up soon this year....keep your eye out for it! :smt023
Re: PC-FX heh, this morning I was just wondering "havent seen Zeta Gouki around in ages, wonder if he knows about the new board"... and guess what Good to see you back :smt023
Speaking of Pcenginefx.com... Hi all This is Aaron from Pcenginefx.com... just wanted to drop by and join in some discussions.... LiquidPolicenaut: If you really are holding out on getting a PC-FX, I think if you wait till the PC-FX World site is back up, you will be able to make up your mind then. What I have in store for the FX site remake is 10X better than what it was before, and when finished, will give you all you need to know to make a decision. I plan for the new FX site to be up and running within 2 or 3 months (crossing fingers).
Bout time Aaron!!! I've been waiting to see when you'd show up here! BTW let me know about that email about Strider for the SG.....these guys didn't believe me... :butthead:
Hey Zeta...I know you're a pc engine collectr and was wondering if you have a wireless pcengine pad you'd like to get rid of...I know this should be buy sell trade but this is the only place I've seen you....BTW good to see you again.. :smt023
. yes it's bit OT but since you asked just friendly reminder that you will need to shell out some serious cash for it. As an example I paid 8000 yen for my wireless pad/receiver box (PI-PD11) plus extra pad (PI-PD12) when I was in Japan. I remember seeing an eBay auction for just pad/receiver over $100 not so long ago... cheers
this is definately OT! similar situation with official white Saturn wireless pad. A set with single pad and receiver easily fetches close to $100 on eBay although I know - or should I say used to know - where you can get far less if you don't mind bit of waiting, like few months... cheers
If you are a big fan of anime or if you are a collector than the PC-FX will be perfect for you. I recently bought one, and i think it is pretty cool. It has some of the best looking 2D games around. Which brings us to a major issue. There are some cool RPGs and shooters for the FX, but a lot of the games are hentai titles (its not as bad as the Marty though). They are not to hard to find if you are interested, i got mine of ebay. Also if you do get one, a good site to go to get games is www.gamechoiceclub.com and if you dont want to get one from ebay they also sell the systems.
Yeah, I have 2 of those wireless remotes. Friend in Japan just tossed them in with a big trade we did. I'm not really wanting to trade 'em away, but I can ask a few friends in JPN what the price might be on one, kstyle. BTW, good to see you too
Games are decently priced, but man the console is WAY overpriced... $200 for one without a box? Screw that :butthead:
The summation of everything I know about PC-FX. It has Return to Zork on it, and Return to Zork is awesome. Return to Zork is one of my favorite graphic adventures ever. In fact, it is my favorite. Cmon...it's part of the Zork series. Now, it would be nice if somebody knew whether they left the english voices in...
Arent the Zork series originally from Europe or the US? It strikes me as odd that such a franchise would get released on a Japan-only system.
I believe the Zork games originated in the US, but I don't find it too surprising that RTZ got released there...US games do come out in Japan...though they're often not too popular...
