When I was four I started having horrible nightmares that that no horror movie every came near the caliber of my nightmares . I had them till I was 13. Mostly
about me walking in a forest then seeing a light and finding a house and guys butchering people I knew parents ,loved ones and then butchering me then I would wake up in a pool of sweat ,though I never pissed myself because I never drunk anything before I went sleep . but as the years wen ton the dream became worst . the dream I mentioned happened when I was four. Then one day I was dreaming and I realized I so I was 7 years of age and in the dream I focused all my thought to making me small as a mouse and I ran into a hole in a floor board. Something I realized soon is that you need to be in constant single same thought , say you were thinking for example a tank you would only think of the tank nothing more expect maybe it moving or shooting , not the origin but if you thought of a tank moving you would have to stay on that thought or your dream may revert or become worse. So at age 9 I remember I was being being chased by a ton by a guy who had ripped my face off and put it on his head kinda like leather face and had a chainsaw , I stopped walked into the chainsaw and then killed the guy off. Then at age eleven I was being chased by a guy in a with larva going in and out of his skin and then my mind wondered and now larva were in my skin. So I focused my thought on becoming one those ww2 fighter planes with the teeth on the side and I became one a bombed the place to hell. Then my mind wondered the guy came back to life and duplicated and started to fly . As I hit 13 my I stopped remembering my dream and never could master lucid dreaming , and today I still very rarely dream .
The weird thing is I never watched a horror movie till i was 16 and then I found horror movies like tcm and halloween to not be scary and now a days Rob Zombie movies don' t and hav't ever phased me.

the few dream I ever had that were happy have long but escaped my mind and I fear I have forgotten most of my childhood.

I digress has anyone here a lucid dreamer and how did it come to be for you?

Did anyone hear every perfect it.

Same deal, had nightmares when I was a kid. Was able to control the nightmare/dream to benefit myself; weapons, escape methods, etc.

I didn't know it was a big deal until I was older (late teens) we were discussing it at school. For example; when you are dreaming, look down at your hands and turn them over <-- I could do this no worries.

When I dream I can control any aspect (people, places, things, even the speed - I can slow-mo my dreams lol). I can do anything I want, any time.

I probably dream 3/4 times a month, and they are usually related to things that are happening in my life.

Wow that about how much I dream now too, though it isn't nearly enough time to practice lucid dreaming.

I have had some lucid dreams, or at least I believe I had. I regularly (depending on how much sleep I get) dream of things I can control, like flying, walking or even some softcore sexual stuff lol. By that I mean that I am in charge of how to continue. I realize that it's a dream and I choose to exploit it, thus subsequently choosing a direction that I want to explore in this realistic environment despite me knowing that it's not REALLY happening. For instance, that one time, I was gigantic and I was flying over a big city, dodging the skyscrapers. A friend of mine did the same and changed directions, I then wanted to change directions as well, but I ravelled myself in the power lines. I remember really well how conscious I was when I tried to unravel those cables.

Again, I haven't too much knowledge about the matter of lucid dreams, so I don't know if we are talking about the same thing.

I haven't had any particular nightmares in connection with lucid dreams though, nightmares are usually passive. I often dream about borderline stuff though that I'm very well aware of, like walking around in huge car parks, underground sewer areas or being chased by the police through some empty buildings and stairways. I'm usually aware of my actions and how I want to proceed (and I know it's a dream most of the time), but it's not exactly a nightmare because there are no demons or supernatural stuff.

Almost all my close friends have appeared Naked in my dreams.

Violence isn't a recuring theme in my dreams but Sex, Going back to high school and
random shit happening for absolutely no reason are all recurring themes

If you live a very sedate or predictable like like myself, the brain goes nuts at night
trying to exercise with all kinds of scenarios.

People who are extremely active tend to sleep like the dead, the brain needs to rest.

I dream EVERY night. I really do and most of the time I can remember the dream. I don't really have ape shit crazy horror dreams but more based around anything I've seen or done recently. Last night I had a dream that I was in some sleezy chinese future city. This dream came around because I was playing Deaus EX before I went to bed.

I do sometimes have the same dream even a few months or even a year later which is odd. I quite often dream of something that happens the next day or the day after.

I have very vivid dreams and I remember every detail.

I sometimes get memories of places I think I've been on holiday when in actual fact they're fictional locations from my mind.

When I was a kid I used to have a recurring dream where everything around me would speed up and then I'd get crushed after looking at a flower in a pot on a wall. It turned out that the speeding up was in fact related to a heart condition I have. As soon as I had that fixed the dream never came back.

I had horrific dreams all through my childhood, never been able to have a lucid dream though. The closest I've ever come is being able to force myself awake regardless of the dream or what's happening.

never really dream myself (obviously i do but never remember), on the odd occasion i do remember them (once every couple of months) they are usually quite disturbing nightmares that cause me to wake up quite violently (my GF really appreciates this i can assure you lol) and i can remember them for a few minutes and they just fade away

dont think ive ever remembered a dream that wasnt a nightmare, never been able to control any aspect that im aware of

When I was 5 or 6, I used to be hell scared of my house roof ripping off.

    Why?

Because I used to watch Jurassic Park, Terminator 2 and Twister. Not horror movies, but they used to scare me a lot. I was also scared of America because of the movie I had seen, were all in based in America.

Now I hardly dream. But it is interesting when your little how your brain is incredibly active.

But T2 and Jurassic Park are now my fravorite movies of all time! lol (Twister sucks though).

A lot of good dream expereinces are mentioned here, many of which people will undoubtedly share - but not many are on topic with regards to Lucid Dreaming.

Strictly speaking Lucid Dreaming refers to the ability to consciously enter and influence your dreams. I Lucid Dream naturally, with no training regularly. Less so now than compared to the past as due to other complications they are not as easy to control... but yeah most of the time I just go with the flow - even if the dream is particularly nasty, though I do on occasion change the outcome to see 'what if' and sometimes repeat the experience just to see it again or to try something else, though each replay becomes increasingly difficult to focus or alter.

Most of my bad dreams are with regards in a way to being an udnerdog in a me against the world scenario when it is under attack mostly by Zombies, but occasionally Aliens and less frequently killer robots haha. The song by Judas Priest called Blood Red Skies basically sums up the majority of my dream experiences and you can hear it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtnW8w3e-7Q . I suppose by extension it covers life experiences too as is often the case it is you against 'the system' - or maybe I'm just a little too obtuse, or in other words a cunt :p

I do occasionally, especially with flying dreams - they also tend to be rather vivid and memorable. Mostly though I can't remember the dreams so I don't know!

I dream without fail if I'm in bed with someone though, usually not pleasant and I'll wake up drenched in sweat. Thus I have to sleep in a separate bed to my girlfriend. Suits me though I like being able to stretch out!

I've never had a lucid dream, but I had a dream where (when I was maybe 7) I woke up and walked into the kitchen, then my whole family said "Quick! Go to the bathroom and piss into the toilet, to distribute your delicious urine to the world's millions. It's the best drink ever! It's gonna make us rich!" So I went into the bathroom and tried to aim into the toilet, my family waiting outside excitedly. But some piss went on the floor instead; as soon as it hit the floor, I woke up in a puddle of piss. That was a nasty surprise, as I hadn't wet myself for a long time before that.

There was also a time when my sister and I were bad, so our parents locked us in our bedroom, and my sister went to bed with me (we shared a room, and my sister wet her bed, so had to sleep in mine...). She eventually pissed in mine too, which woke me up, so I got up and sat down on the floor for a bit. Then I had the sudden urge to defacate, but my parents wouldn't have believed me. So I got some tissue paper, shat in it, and rolled it into a ball, under my sister's bed.

The second that it hit the wall under her bed, I then wake up to find myself in her puddle of piss, and thought that it must have all been a dream. But then I looked under my sister's bed, and realised that it did happen after all. Needless to say, she was horrified when she woke up to find it...

I've had a few lucid dreams but usually I get caught in the Catch-22 where I realize I'm dreaming and then the dream only continues for another few minutes because I know that it's not real. I can't seen to consciously stay asleep.

I dream often, nearly every night, and they are usually extremely clear. (Technically I think we all dream every night, we just don't remember). It leads to a problem when I'm awake, then I go to sleep and dream and feel like I'm awake, then wake up, so when I get out of bed it's like I haven't slept at all. It's actually a pretty big problem because if I'm dreaming when I wake up I'm basically a zombie for most of the day no matter how much sleep I got. My eyes are dry and extremely red and it's hard to see, and I tend to stumble around with no balance for an hour or so after waking up. I can easily fall back asleep in 5 minutes no matter where I am or how much sleep I got. Once I just refused to get out of bed and just kept drifting in and out of dreams for nearly 24 hours. The mix of reality and pseudo-reality over such a long period of time can be pretty brutal.

Usually the dreams are about two things....everyday life (like just regular work at an office) or bad dreams with horror. The plane crash dream happens quite a bit. Now when I'm in a dream and I'm on a plane or getting on a plane I just wait for the crash to happen. But it never ends with death, the crash is always some kind of soft landing. I sometimes have "video game" dreams where I'm an actual player in a game like Halo...heh. One that keeps popping up is where I'm at an amusement park with an insane looking roller coaster, like one that technically can't be possible. Then suddenly I'm on it.

The worst one was like a zombie movie where I was in a house and my ex was there and people were outside trying to get in. We parted on bad terms so she didn't lock the doors like I told her to and the people got in. The problem was that it was people I know, but they weren't right in the head. Just standing there mumbling, then they started to attack me. I tried to stop them but then gave up and started fighting back. I suddenly had a bat and I was cracking them in the head. It's pretty fucked up when you're hitting people you actually know and are friends with but it turned into a survival thing by that point.

I also had one where I got to the scene of a plane crash and the victims had no skin and they just kind of melted into human-like blobs, but they were writhing around and screaming in pain.

Maybe I should take Assmebler's cue and spend more time out of the house...heh.

I haven't dreamed lucidly but one or three times in my life, but I did notice a remarkable uptake in vivid dreams when I started taking zinc supplements. Try it, it's fun :p

I love dreams. They're like a window into a part of yourself you don't usually see. I very rarely have nightmares anymore. I used to have them more when I was a little kid, but even then it didn't happen too often and they were never that bad. I sometimes have dreams that aren't really nightmares, but they're just not very enjoyable.

I have lucid dreams quite frequently. I haven't had many lately, but for a long time I was having them every other day or so. I usually use them to live out my fantasies. Lucid dreaming is great - you're basically a god in your own little world. There are limits to what you can do - mainly complexity - but there's still a lot of freedom.

A word of advice: if you're having a nightmare and suddenly become lucid, don't use the opportunity to give yourself weapons to fight off the monsters/murderers/whatever. That's sure to get you more and more embroiled in the nightmare, and if you do it long enough you'll probably lose your lucidity.

A much better plan is to teleport yourself to somewhere else entirely, where the horrible things in your nightmare don't exist. There you can do whatever you want; fly, fuck, build giant pyramids, whatever. I've never become lucid in the middle of a nightmare, but if I did that's what I'd do. The other option is just to wake yourself up; I can usually force myself to wake up in a lucid dream if I want to. I usually don't want to, though, because I'm having too much fun. :D

Amusing anecdote: my parents tell me they saw me sleep-walking once. I have no memory of the incident, so I have to take their word for it. They said I walked downstairs and said, in a zombie-like tone, "I saw Buzz Lightyear."

Thats what probably happened to me I fought off the the monsters and lost my lucid ability. Though at the time I did force myself awake I would scream " some body wake me the fuck up" then I would fall down a black fissure of nothing-nes and wake up. Anyway being a lucid dreamer is great though its isn't an ability most have. I may still be able to do it but I just don't remember my dreams anymore so I don't know if am lucid dreaming or not . I probably am siting in a white room on a beach before a hurricane comes drink vodka saying what a beautiful day. I really love stormy weather especially at a beach.
