I'm copying this out of the San Jose newspaper, it's either from the AP or Bloomberg News. I didn't see that anyone else posted the info or seemed to be talking about it so I figured I would. So it seems that Atari is in a bit of trouble. Does anyone think they will be able to pull themselves out of it? Or do you think we'll see another nice sale and auction going on in New York sometime "soon"? Either way, it doesn't seem like Atari is a very "lucky" name for a company...
You can get more of less of the full story here. It is looking dark for them, I supose another fall is before us. Along with its financial results today Atari also announced that Diane Baker has resigned her position as Atari's Executive Vice President and CFO, to be effective shortly. The company's continuing woes were not cited as a reason for her leaving; she did not jump ship, but instead left "to pursue a new opportunity," the company said. gotta love that last line she used. http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=11825
Since when was Atari not in the shit? Today's Atari isn't the same as the old 2600 days Atari and as far as I know they don't even make games do they? I thought they are now a distributor. Can't say I'll be bothered to see them go. Don't own one single game or item with the Atari name on it. Yakumo
The name is CUUURRRRSEEEDDD! WOOooooOOOOOoooo... Seriously, you see Atari on a game these days and don't know the developer behind the game, stay away. Infogrammes is the publisher of crap.
Hmm, I don't overly care about Atari but there are a few promising titles which may be able to pull them through (in an ideal world of course). Neverwinter Nights 2 being the most intriging.
A tari has been in financial trouble for a few years, and come to think about it, when did they last release a decent game?.... well atleast they are living up to the atari name Ryan
They have decent properties, but they just spent like they were one of the big boys like EAand it backfired. Think majesco but on a larger scale, and oh yeah, no handheld experience to fall back on.
Publisher of crap eh? Neverwinter Nights is crap? Indigo Prophecy is crap? Ikaruga is crap? Unreal Tournament 2K4 is crap? To say that Atari only publishes crap is a HUGE generalization. -hl718
It funny but Sega release Neverwinter Nights in Japan  I never did like the idea of releasing stuff under the Atari name simply because you'd get all the mags talking as if Atari "made" those games. It's nothing new though. Magazines have been doing that for years. Yakumo
Good call hl718 but I think there's a ratio thing as well, as assembler said they haven't balanced themselves well.
