Dont know if you guys saw the new vidoc, if not go here before reading: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/3/5/2846056/halo-3-first-video-343-microsoft

Ok so besides the overly dramatic production (OMG dudes working on cubicles is EPIC!) from what little actual game footage can be seen it looks like theres going to be a lot of QTE-FPS events like those in COD, specially in the modern warfare spinoff.

I think its pretty bad that H4 is taking a massive shit on the story of the original series, but to on top of that turn the game into an obvious ripoff of one of the most dreadful FPS franchises out there, well 343 is really trying to kill themselves IMO

HL2 didnt try to be halo, why is halo trying to be like COD?

I couldn't care less about the story of Halo, but hopefully they don't add crap like cover systems, iron sights etc. that every new FPS has. For an example of the most unoriginal COD ripoff possible, just look at the new Syndicate game.

Do you really think so? I believe they have many differences, but it's not up to par concerning quality.

BF3, on the other hand, is evolving in the right direction.

No, it actually seems quite good IMO.
The ONLY thing i'm worried about is how they treat Continuity of the EU and the previous games.

Which so far, I am only concerned about this need to make Mulitplayer Story Related. That's just fucked up, Spartan IV's?? REALLY?
I can't wait to see what clusterfuck of a retcon this is going to be. 99% of the people who play Halo, play the MP brainlessly and could care less about the lore and backstory of Halo.
SO WHY!? These are the same people who buy CoD in the bazillions!

And his Armor, I wonder if it's just an Art Style Difference or what. One thing that has bothered me since the clusterfuck and middle finger to EU fans that is "Halo:Reach", is the Shoulder pads. I liked the Diamond Shape they made before. In reach the MK.V armor Pads just didn't look they were supposed to. They looked floaty/tacked on.

I'm also worried about how they are going to treat the story in regards to EU. If they are going to make it like the first 3, which eschewed Cutscenes and back story for gameplay. With little cutscenes here and there to make the average joe "feel like they are John-117"

So, I hope they dont' fuck this up. I'll wait until it's released to pass judgement. But holy hell I hope they don't fuck this up like Bungie fucked up continuity with Reach.
And how 343 re-released The Fall of Reach with MORE continuity errors than originally.

ALSO: I dont' get the comparisons to CoD.
You know what's like CoD? CoD. Did I mention Medal of Honor? Which was doing CoD before CoD was even created.
And honestly, Syndicate is nothing like CoD other than common modern FPS standards.

Didnt you read the latest halo book? the one about the forerunners?

TL:DR ti changes EVERYTHING, as I said above now the backstory is COMPLETELY different

The forerunners were complete dicks, the bad guys (completely different from the first 3 games...)

Humans and prophets were ALLIES (massive mindfuck) but were beaten by the forerunners

    The forerunners artificially devolved humans

The flood were created by the precursors, as revenge for their extermination at the hands of the forerunner (weren't those guys the ones that created/evolved the forerunners? and what about "the mantle"?)

343 already took a MASSIVE SHIT on the story, now they are going for the gameplay

Halo 4 Modern BlackOps Ancient Warfare Evil

I guess that was a little exaggerated (Homefront and Medal of Honor are way more unoriginal), but it still doesn't have anything to make it stand out from all the other modern FPSs, and it does feel a LOT like COD. Or maybe I'm just disappointed that all they could do with a classic IP was another "me too" FPS, especially after Deus Ex: Human Revolution was such a good game with a very similar theme.

I honestly don't see it. And how are they crapping on the original story? We don't even know the story yet.

as a Halo AND Call of Duty fan...this has me interested how they'll pull this off. The story line of the Modern Warfare games gets me more than the Halo story. Halo's campaign in 2 and 3 were boring to me. I enjoyed the first one, and ODST and Reach.

Now, do I want weapon progression ala COD in Halo 4? No. Did I like the loadouts in Reach? to an extent.

I like what 343 did with Anniversary edition. I like how they tried to stay as true as possible to the original layout of the multiplayer maps. I like the title update they did for Reach.

I like that they said they're designing the maps and the features of multiplayer with competitive play in mind. They mentioned they are quite serious about feedback from MLG.

I feel more comfortable with 343 handling Halo than I have with Bungie for quite some time. I played Halo as a competitive game, not as a "WHOO DRIVE THE JEEP AND SHOOT THINGS!" game that a lot of people played. The campaign means nothing to me.

Bungie treated the competitive scene like second hand citizens. The BR was nerfed in Halo 3, any mentions of fixing the BR on Bungie.net was met with the ban hammer, MLG play list was added WAY later. Bungie did their own thing with the game, not caring what fans wanted.

343 is describing this game as things that are honestly hitting ALL my checkboxes with what I want in Halo. They're even bringing the BR back and they KNOW why people like it. If it adds ADS, eh not a big deal. Rainbow Six Vegas controlled like a hybrid of COD and Halo, so I'm used to that.

The only thing they've mentioned that is "COD-esque" about the Multiplayer is "player progression". The thing I like about Halo is instead of focusing on Choke-points like in COD, you focus on total map control via the power weapons and power ups.

It would NOT play like Halo if you could spawn with a sniper rifle EVERY time you died. I think customizing loadouts similar to reach would work.

I think if you could make like, 4 loadouts with perks ala cod like faster/unlimited sprint (if they keep sprint like Reach), faster reloading, reduced grenade damage, etc. while keeping the weapon spawning it would work well.
