I saw something on ebay that looked cool called ProCDX. It's a genesis cartridge that when inserted, claims to allow you to play import SEGA CD games on your system. I was wondering if I can use the Everdrive somehow to do the same thing. I'm an American with a U.S. released SEGA CD model 2.
Yes it can. As I demonstrated, you'll NEED a Sega CD installed. If you try and run a BIOS WITHOUT a Sega CD installed, you will just get a black screen. You need to download a BIOS in a cart form(i.e. BIN, GEN, or MD) and boot it with the Everdrive in the cart slot. The BIOS you need to use is the one that corresponds with the game(like running a Japanese Mega CD2 BIOS on an American Sega CD2 for a Japanese game). Before I had the Everdrive, I used to have to change the region before burning. Now, I don't have to. Just burn and go! Here, these are the files I used in that video: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XPOKMT2W Just put these on the Everdrive, and follow the video. Good luck!
I tried yesterday to load some BIOS files from no-intro set and it freezes on loading. I do have a sega-cd plus 32x. FW: 12 OS the last one with support to 2x and sdhc.
Did you try the files he posted a link to? Your BIOS ROM you used may not have been correct for your Sega CD system.
These files works fine in my ED with OS v23. http://krikzz.com/pub/support/index.php?dir=everdrive-md/free-bios/ I have a MegaCD2 UE PAL and if I load a "cd-2-u.bin", I play USA CDs wihout problem:nod:
yah it does allow you to use game from different regions and if you like the other regions bios more than russels region free bios you can use them instead
