is it a smb 3 japanese pirated game?

    If I remember right, back when you posted on the old board about those pirate carts, didnt you mention one of them including a chipset that "emulated" Mode 7? That would be interesting to see!

    (could be my memory screwing up though)

Oh yeah, I remember that - I'm trying to think off the top of my head what the reason was why I didn't go for the set - probably the usual "I'm broke and can't afford anything" bit. :smt009 I take it the cart in the upper right is the Mario 2 bootleg? That one's obviously a little - or a lot - dodgy, but I thought I read somewhere that Nintendo actually did move SMB 2 over to cart at some point like they did with Zelda....

    Man, looking at that set I wish I did have money at the time... :smt022

    Something like it...

    Yeah from what I see it's got a good Mode 7 type effect... The way it was explained on some website that made small mention of the SMW bootleg was that it had a custom processor-like chip that enabled the slightly extended color display, few additional sprites and the Mode 7 -esque effect when you fight the four rotating "Reznor" dinosaurs.
