http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-TurboGr...SC-SUPER-CD-ROM-NEW-SEALED-MINT-/221686276101 The Turbo Duo is great and all, but 20k just seems insane. Has their been a big price increase over the last few years on them, because where I saw used units in good condition for around $200 about 2 - 3 years ago, I'm now seeing them for between $500 and $800.
I've seen many sellers do this. I think they just want to try and bring you in. And hopefully you will check his store/other items out.
What about the average going rate though? A $300 increase in 2 - 3 years makes me wonder what happened.
The fact that you posted this topic shows why certain sellers do this. It gains attentions, people talk about it. The seller also has this advertisement up with "open for offers", so once they get an offer in which they find acceptable they'll have a sale.
I was going to post 'no console is worth $20k', but I imagine there's some who would contradict me - what out there would be worth $20k? Not prototypes but official stock...
I would say your 500-800 is a bit high. Look at the sold listings: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Video-Game-...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 The average price is around 250-350 i'd say. There are some that sold for 500 but those included extras, like games.
I think the eBay trending rate is just all the ones listed. Plus they have a vested interest in that rate going up.
