Is it possible to do so without any use of any crazy converters or anything?
I want to be able to play Dr Mario and Tetris on my SFC.

It's not too bad. The shared region code means a single converter lets you mix and match essentially any game or console between North America, South America, Japan, and Korea, all without bypassing the lockout.

NTSC converters are easy to spot, they have just one cart slot.

ESM just get one of those Honey bee risers, and you'll be good to go. that link is a good one. but you may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. at that price you'd be better off buying another SFC and chopping it up lol.

I wouldn't bother chopping looks too ugly unlike snes where it's just tabs. Just search for a pass through converter which is what I use to play snes on my super famicom. Also make sure it has the extra pins at the end. Usually they do but check just in case.

I just put the US game pcbs into SFC cartridge cases. US games look so ugly anyway.

Yes, there's even an SNES to SFC adapter floating around

You could just remove the top from your SFC and then replace it after you played.

fwiw, removing the shell from the games also works. Mind the orientation though, front toward enemy chips toward the back. They should even fit into replacement US shells if you have any.
