Is it possible to set up a wifi to ethernet adapter so that it stores the info on the device itself? The reason I ask is cause I wanted to configure a ethernet to wifi adapter I just bought to work on a bluray player that don't have wireless. Or is this something that only a pc would be able to use? This is what I got:

So, if I am understanding correctly, you want to provide WiFi to a device that natively only has Ethernet? Generally, something like what you pictured should work fine. The device itself knows no difference than it is sending the signal via Ethernet and that 'box' is doing to conversion of Ethernet -> WiFi and Ethernet <- WiFi.

You also may want to check if the Blu-Ray player supports USB WiFi dongles. Generally they all accept some, but check with the OEM.

    EDIT: Forgot a letter/word.

    If I'm reading it correctly
WiFi AP client (available for wireless Ethernet access)
Can you let us know how you go with it

Well, the internet I use has security of some sort, so I can't just plug it in and autodetect it. I did try messing around with the settings but it never did connect. It detected the wifi but I changed settings and it never connected on the PC. And I don't know if those settings only work on pc or if the dongle saves them internally. If the settings are not storing in the dongle then taking the dongle to the bluray won't do any good. It's a chinese dongle too and the customer service number is a chinese number so I'd never be able to call it. Anyone know where I could get some help setting it up?

This is the bluray player I got. I once found a source that says it works with a certain wifi dongle. But since then every source I've found says it only accepts landlines. So I don't know if I want to spend money on a wifi dongle if it don't really work.

is the dongle that was supposed to work with it, but it don't list my bluray player.

Aww, I see what you're saying now. What about an Ethernet -> Power line -> Ethernet adapter?

You could buy a wifi extender with an Ethernet port on it.

Nevermind. I found a really long ethernet cable. It barely reaches, but I can buy something to connect it to another cable and it can hang out of the way eventually.

Try to reset it and start over. It should do what you're asking.
You mean, the wifi network? If so, you'll need to know the user/pass and maybe the encryption type to manually configure the adapter. In the ebay listing there's an address that you type in the browser and go from there. I suppose you can do this initial setup by hooking it directly to your computer through the ethernet cable. Then after config and successfully connecting to the wifi network, proceed to the bdplayer side of things.

    Also I've noticed this:
If I'm reading it right, it's basically says that the USB part of the cable is for powering the adapter, only. If so, you might want to connect any wired device through ethernet only.

And last, you should check you bdplayer for LAN settings (somewhere on the menus?) but if you haven't messed around with it, it should be as simple as connecting the ethernet cable from the adapter to it.
