Is it wrong to laugh when people get shot in films? I was watching War yesterday with Jet Li and Jason Statham and I giggled when Jason got shot in the beginning. I tend to laugh at people's pain, and sometimes I feel creepy for it. Anyone else like that? Also, for the record, Jason pwns Jet.
Most people I know will laugh at me after I get my nose job this saturday, so probably you're not the only creep out there... I'd laugh at myself also, if the pain allows it.... (doubtful) I also laugh in horror films when someone gets killed. But that's sort of the whole point of it isn't it???
Nah, everyone does it at some point. Also, that part in Titanic where that dude falls off the sinking ship and hits the propeller for a satisfying "THUNK" sound always gets me. And also, c'mon, Inglourious Basterds. Almost every death there is fucking hilarious.
I'll post the pics of my new nose after the swelling and the bruising is done... I will not allow anyone to take pictures of me while I look like a bloated purple blowfish
Is it purely cosmetic or is there some sort of reason for the nose job? Also remember to give us before and after shots so that we can tell you that your old nose was better.
Cosmetic mostly, but I also have some trouble breathing through my nose, so it will be corrected. No before and after pics whatsoever. My nose as it is now (I'm calling it THE OLD NOSE) is hideous. I look like a pre pubescent boy if seen on profile... The NEW NOSE will be better
Based on the prior photos you posted I think many here would disagree with that. You're quite stunning as-is. -hl718
After clicking on the thread I only read the last few posts and already prepared to give an "is it right" statement on cosmetical nose surgeries when I accidentally found out what this thread is really about So, @topic: If it's adequate to laugh or not, that does entirely depend on the situation, doesn't it? Laughing your ass off may seem a bit odd if it occurs after some jews just have been shot by Nazis in a historical movie. Being dead-serious and shocked may seem a bit odd if it occurs after some Yakuza are shot in the face with a giant revolver by a furious Takashi Miike. I believe the amount of humor involved in a scene depicting an execution or lethal accident mostly depends on how it's done. Movies that really want to be taken seriously usually avoid anything that could be mistaken as a joke (like the hilarious yet cruel scene from Titanic Xerdo_Pwerko was referring to ^^) I thought every death in Toxic Avenger is damn funny. Even the fat kid that gets run over by drunken teenagers. He looks so damn stupid in his pyjamas or whatever he's wearing to ride his bike! Also "serious" movies can contain (deliberately) funny death sequences, like James Ryan, Fargo and many more.
I can't help but laugh at most serious scenes in any movies. No matter how serious, the fact I know it's acting sets something off and I can't help but at least smile. I dunno if that makes me seem crazy or not, but I'm obviously not alone
I am officially adding "handjobber" to my drunken vocabulary. I fail to see how someone's nose can make them look like another gender though. Does your nose have an adams apple or a pair of testes hanging from it?? What's more I fail even greater at understanding how a nose can make you look as if puberty has not been achieved... I'm going to have to start paying more attention to noses from now on. Oh and on topic, I find it difficult to stay immersed in the subject matter of a movie and often wander into picking things apart and laughing at seemingly inappropriate scenes of both violence and emotional seriousness. I think it may have to do with a general lack of believability or just the oddity of seeing something nearly never seen in everyday life portrayed upon the screen. That propeller thump in Titanic certainly is a classic moment of movie theater commotion for me. People were terrified and crying and my friend and I just burst out laughing uncontrollably..
Drunken vocab? Screw that, I'll use it every day! The propeller scene got me in trouble, I watched that flick with my parents. Also, Kate Winslett's tits aren't fun when your dad's sitting next to you.
Yeah no one wants to be erect with parental supervision.. That and thinking of what you might do to those tits becomes creepy with your mom in the room..
Great, it turned from if laughing at violence is wrong, to tits from Titanic, amazing. This is truly fitting for the Off Topic section, since you know, this is off topic. Hahaha I love this site.
Meh, most movies these days get the ultra-violence concept wrong, end up overdoing it and thats why is funny. For example, I laughed my ass off watching Wanted. But I didnt laugh at all watching Akira, never... Got a boobjob too? In that case, I invoke the 72th law of the internet! TITS OR GTFO:Rock: Just j/k
