Gah PS2 DVD drives

My brother has been through 3 PS2`s just due to drive wear and tear.

Even the silver PS2 which is apparently more reliable has gone in under 6 months.

He doesnt smoke or use it in a dusting envrionment, it`s on a flat surfice.

Frustrating.

 

I think i'm lucky when i hear complains like these. I have my PS2 for 2 years ( or more ), and it works flawlessly. Oh and it's modded.

My PS1 (SCPH-1001) the first model, that had serious problems, worked great for 8 years. I bought it on 1995 and only "died" on me on january 2003! The lens won't work (will need a complete new one) and the cd does not spin (will need a new drive motor).

I will fix it , when i replace the mod of mine PS2 this june or july ( doing both at the same time will save me some money).

Don't want to feel guilty saying i'm lucky, but what else can i say?! :smt040
