Is my 3DO dead?

    If you keep your 3DO open, you could simply "fix" it by using an AT/ATX power supply for computers. You could pass +12v through the 9v regulator, and +5v through the 5v regulator... it should regulate the voltages...

    Just tested the 3DO by using a working transformer from a good 3DO unit and the system still wouldn't work properly. It powered up but the CD tray wouldn't open, then it shut off and wouldn't turn back on. The problem must be something other than the transformer.

    didnt someone in this thread mentined something about a problem with a FFC in the drives from the Sanyo and Goldstar models?

    maybe you should cheack this one if youve got one of thos 2 models

    I have hte same problem.
    I bought a 3do from a tool on the neo forums it has the same issue.
    I replaced the caps and it still dies after a few minutes of use.
    I will try to see if a regulator is failing now....

    Looks like I have the same problem - don't have a voltmeter, so ordered both that and the caps preemptively, what with them being cheap... Fingers crossed, and thanks all for the great info!
