I want a 3DO and just from what ive seen Japanese ones seem to be going for a lot less money then the NTSC variety. Wondering if a Japanese 3DO can play NTSC games?
Yes, 3DO is region free and you can play NTSC-U games on a Japanese 3DO system. Actually, the Japanese 3DO also contains some Japanese fonts, which are crucial for some Japanese games in order to play. Therefor, if you need the ultimate region free 3DO system, go for a Japanese 3DO.
Thank you exactly what i wanted to know. I wish more things were region free makes life a lot easier lol.
From what i can remember the system is mostly free. I think there was some JAP games that don't work on a NTSC due to memory limitations.
Not memory limitations, some games will crash because EU/US consoles lack ROM2 (with kanji font). You can actually add it to some consoles and those games will boot. Never had any problems with japanese FZ-10 though.
