Well black friday is here and no word of a ps2 price drop for christmas. I think the 360's official release is 12/4, but correct me if I'm wrong. I know word on the net has gone both ways, yes price drop and no price drop. Well will sony try to steal some of the 360's fire by setting the ps2 price to $99. I know uninformed grandma's and parents would love to give thier kids the wrong system due to the attractive $99 christmas price tag. There was also a rumor that target got collateral for an official ps2 price drop (for those that don't know "collateral" is posters, signs and pamphlets given to retailers for instore advertising)

I'm sure it will come sooner or later. Either a few days into December, or a little while after. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony does it right after Microsoft does for the Xbox (Or vice versa).

Xbox is slowly dying away (no new boxes being made), so I expect Sony and Nintendo (maybe in a slighter degree) to try and make as much money off the current generation as possible. Nintendo still wanted to ship 2.4 million GameCube's... and Zelda. ;)

actually, the game cube is dying away too. The only difference between the xbox and the gamecube is that the cube still have a killer app for next year. I wonder how it will affect the sales of the cube, though. Will people buy the console, or if they will rather wait for the revolution. Either way, it wouldn't be bad. buying the revo for Zelda seems like a good thing, if you don't have the cube yet (and care about zelda (but who doesn't? :p )).

Here in the UK "GAME":noooo: were advertising X-Boxes £79.99 when purchased with "any" X-Box game!

No sign of a PS2 drop at all!

  7. Didn't Nintendo stop producting Gamecubes a couple months ago? I heard that they had so much overstock that they just quit production of them because Cube sales have been pretty dismal as of late.

They haven't stopped producing xboxes. That rumor started because microsoft isn't buying any more of the graphics chips, which lead "certain" game magizines to say that they won't be producing any more xboxes. In reality, microsoft has such an overstock on the graphics chips that they could manufacture for a long time, and if they needed to, they could still get more of the chips. I'm not sure about an xbox price drop. Microsoft knows that there's a secondary market that will buy the damn things in bulk just to put linux or xbox media center on them. If it drops to $100 any time soon, i would be suprised. Ps2 is far more likely to drop the price as they've taken a bit of a PR dive over the backwards compatibility issue on the new slimlines. On the other hand, sony is hurting for cash, so they might just ride the $150 cash cow as long as they can. In other words, i dunno.

I'm pretty sure they will soon. I hope so. And I hope that stores bring down the price of the gamecube as well to where used gamecubes costs $50.

  10. The Gamestop near me has used and refubished Gamecubes for $59. Not quite $50 but pretty darn close.

Yeh I know. Local pawnshops have them for $50, but they dont have a return policy, and all sales are final. Whereas with gamestop if it dont work, you can return it or replace it for free.
