So I came across the Sonic Xtreme release thread and can't make heads or tails of it other than it has been archived on 4-25-2011. Is this a real game? Is it available for download or purchase? I've heard of the abandoned Sega game so I'm wondering if the ASSEMbler community took it and finished the game off or what. If the game is complete, I want it for my Sonic games collection. Anyone care to shed some light and point me in the right direction for the game?
Yes, it is a real game, however it's not complete it's very basic. check it out with a Saturn emu. no source or tools so it will never be finished. unless someone has a more complete build of the game.
Here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW_Pd-PTAtM That's basically it. I wasn't around this site back in 07, so I have no idea how it was obtained or how it was dumped, but I do know it's been released online, and I have played it on my Saturn. Unless you're a big Sonic fan and have been following this game since way back in the day, I wouldn't bother with it. The video should should give enough of an idea of how basic it really is. Unless a newer build pops up in the future, the basic build is all we're going to be getting. Hey, at least it's something. If you want to download the game, Google "sonic xtreme download" and it should be the first one.
Thanks for the replies. I was hoping for more info on the thread under same title but it seems to be lost with time. Oh well. Basic build is better than nothing. Perhaps I can burn it to CD once I get a mod chip in my Saturn.
Yeah, it's really less a game and more a proof-of-concept. There's really no gameplay to speak of. It's a cool piece of gaming history, though.
