I was wondering if there was such a thing as a VGA cable for the Playstation 1? Right now I have my Playstation 1 hooked up to a composite to VGA box because I have it hooked up to a VGA monitor until I can find a 19" HDTV cheep, and some of the colors are really bright (mostly red). I keep thinking if I go straight to VGA it would fix the color issue, also can you use gun games on a VGA monitor? I think I read in another thread you can't on HDTV (right???).

I have seen these adaptors on eBay that say that they will hook up to the Playstation 1 and 2 that give you VGA and it's powered by the one of the memory slots. Anyone ever use one of these adaptors?

    Thanks!! :)

PS I hope I'm not spamming, I didn't if I should ask this in the other two threads.

This page should explain the answer and why in detail but ultimately it's a no unless you want to go from RGB Scart to VGA with an adapter.

Adaptors are a wide world. All kind of gadgets one can lose themselves in.

The system's own best ability is RGB. It'll look very similar to a Playstation 2. (while PS2 enables component for PS1 games, for that directly the TV must accept low resolution component)

Well neither of these web sites, help me.. They just confuse me more, I'm not trying to upscale the PSX I. What I really want to know if I get an HDTV or is this <sorry for the eBay links> (http://www.ebay.com/itm/172174463689?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT) vs (http://www.ebay.com/itm/AV-to-VGA-T...168402?hash=item35fc3db212:g:ofwAAOSwoudW2PlD) <which is what I have (not this band though)>. Right now, I had to lower the contrast on the adaptor so the red wouldn't wash out the rest of the other colors. What I really want to know is would I have this problem with the other adaptor or it be okay on a HDTV. My space is very limited, which is what I am using a VGA monitor (19"), but thinking of getting a small HDTV if I can find one at a good price for almost the same size.

On a side note, I like to mention that the adaptor I'm using on my VGA monitor, sure makes the Atari, Intlivision, Colco, and the N64 look great! :)

The issue is, the question you are asking isn't the question you want the answer for.

The PS1 doesn't output vga. To get vga from it, you are either converting composite to vga (like you do now) or rgb to vga (which will be a better picture.

Guns won't work on a monitor or a hdtv.

Really all you want to know is if anyone has any experience with the adapter you linked to.

You can get native RGB out of a PS1 by using a component cable. The monitor would need to support sync on composite.
My old projector was able to do it, but it took a while for resolution changes to go though. Going from a menu back to the game would result in a blank screen for a few seconds.

Yes. Not really a VGA cable, but an offcially licensed upscan converter, that also works with the PS2.

    Waka Up Scan Converter (SLPH-00016)

I forgot tot mention using the gun isn't a big deal for me really. I was just wondering that's all, the only gun game I like is Time Crisis, although unless I'm looking at the wrong sites Time Crisis 2 for the PSX is really good. :/

The PS1 can be modded for RGBHV. It has the H-Sync and V-Sync signals in it plus the RGB signals on the AV-Out. It's pretty easy on a SCPH-750X. Your monitor would need to support 240p and 480i over its VGA connector if you are on an NTSC console. Johnny's suggestion is nice too from what I've read about it.

Video is not mine but I also did this. Looks good, but wire shielding is pretty important.

Vga is 31khz, you are proposing rgb over a vga connector, which is non standard and not vga by anyone's definition.
