I'm trying to check if I cabled my systems right and if the mods I did with my amp are working correctly.

Is there any rom/game (except for the genesis which I've already found) that can output a beep on the left speaker and next on the right speaker?

I've tried several games on my N64 Everdrive and SD2Snes but I can't find a single one that has this test.

I dont know of any game that can do this specifically, but many games have rather obvious panning effect in music.

Also, there are many other methods of making sure stereo is working, such as pan wheel on amplifier, unconnecting one RCA lead etc...

disconnecting still would output the same sound if by any chance it's it's outputting dual mono.

Pan wheel would also do the same.

I need to make sure it's real stereo and not dual mono. I've found pictures of nintendo sound test that can do it, but for some reason this rom disappeared from my sources.

EDIT: Found the one for the SNES, it's called World Class Service Super Nintendo Tester.

One for the N64 would be sweet :)

Pretty much EVERY Mega Drive game (at least Japanese developed) has a sound test but if you want one that does an actual "LEFT" and "RIGHT" test then use the ROM for the SNES hardware test. That has a left & right channel hardware test which will suit you perfectly. You hear a voice saying "This is the left channel" then a Super Mario World jingle will play all out of the left speaker then the same for the right.

OOPS! Looks like I should have read the post 2 above mine.

    Yeah, thank you Yakumo.

    This one did the trick.
For some reason this isn't working for my tests on the sega genesis with the 240p test pattern by the guys who made the xrgb mini.

    Need to figure out why.

240p test patern for Mega Drive? I've not heard of that one. Is it an actual MD rom by Dempa (Micomsoft?)

By the way, you do know that the original Mega Drive / Genesis only gives mono audio via the RGB out? You'll need to use the headphone jack to get stereo.

    This is it:
    http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/240p_test_suite

It's very very nice piece of software.

I'm using the headphone output, it goes straight to the 32x and out, there's no conversion or anything done on the 32x in relation to the audio.
But when I use this software to test left and right I get the same audio to be outputted on both speakers.

What do you mean it "goes straight to the 32X"?

AFAIK, with a Mega Drive 1, you can never get stereo sound from the 32X's AV out.

You need to take the sound directly from the headphone port to your speakers/amp.

This correct. The 32x is just a passthrough device, it has no audio circuitry to generate stereo sound. You will need a 3.5mm to RCA adapter to get stereo from the model 1 genesis. You could also buy a sega cd, rought the headphone audio through it and get stereo from it's RCA outputs.

lol I use this kind of test all the time.

In Wave Race 64 you have MONO in the two speakers, STE on the left and REO in the right, and even HEADPHONES in a less separated way whan stereo.

I think the MVS has a sound test mode in the test menu that includes a stereo test. I think most arcade boards with stereo sound have that feature, actually.
