To do what exactly? In reply to the other quote, the biggest HDD I've seen in an XBOX is 500GB, but you'd need to enable the G:/ Drive and format it within UnleashX.
I upgraded my XBOX HDD today, with the eeprom method as Bad_AD84 mentioned. No need for anything than just the XBOXHDM and a Computer with IDE Master. Very simple progress and I'm thinking of doing a quick tutorial on YouTube for it in HD (as all of those videos were done in 2007 with 240p crap)
okay so i got an old pc with ide ports and shit. if i use xboxhdm, does the cd rom drive need to be slave or master?
All that does is create a huge size memory card. Unless that is what you want. I have seen people use 2TB hard drives in original Xboxs, they use an SATA to IDE converter to do it.
I will be going through this process shortly went to Microcenter the other night and they wanted $140 for a 320GB Western Digital IDE HDD said screw that and bought a Sata to IDE adapter so we'll see how that goes. I can't do the XboxHDM method since I no longer have a desktop or an old POS anywhere so I guess I'll be messing with Chimps. Hexigon I think making a video would be great since you are right most (if not all) of the videos are pretty crappy quality lol On a side note was thinking of upgrading the HDD in my debug but not exactly sure where to start is it easier or harder?
what version console do you have? also chipped or softmodded? because i just ordered a 500gb ide hard drive from upgradebay for $90 after shipping. It seems to be the best 500gb hdd according to xboxdrives.x-pec.com 14/14 people say its lockable, and works for v1.0, 1.1, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 by using chimp, xboxhdm, AID, and others. haven't recieved it yet, but by the looks of everything it seems like it'll be a great hdd. the ide - sata converters work well too. which did you buy?
No idea on the version I forget honestly and it's just softmodded I just took it out of storage and just want a bigger HDD in it but I'm considering just upgrading the HDD in my debug kit instead idk yet. Yeah I'm sure you can find them for decent prices but overall IDE is expensive from what I've seen lol I got a cheap SATA to IDE adapter on Amazon not the one on deal extreme but looks to be similar.
On a separate IDE channel, the HDD MUST be on Master otherwise XBOXHDM will chuck a fuss. If you ever get a error when trying to do the lockhd -a method, plug in the IDE cable for the HDD after it's booted XBOXHDM menu screen.
well i get the error when i use chimp as well but it says its lockable. ill try the other method with xboxhdm
yeah it is. i tried using it from startup and it works but says cant lock whatever, then i tried your way, not changing anything, and it gives me that error
MHDD is a PC tool that can lock/unlock drives. Long as you have the key, you can lock the drive with any ATA locking tool - doesnt need to be xbox specific and doesnt need to be on any specific channel or master/slave
You didn't say any error just "it can't lock or whatever" could mean anything... You probably can't lock because it's a frozen drive or you haven't got a key or eeprom...
Boy, I'm glad that I got an Xecuter 3 CE while I could still get one 4 years ago and the fancy control panel. I didn't have to go through all this stuff when I upgraded hard drives all I had to do is drop in the hard drive and set it up through the BIOS.
