Reminds me of a cooling mod I once did. Involved a peltier and a massive heatpipe heatsink. It worked for cooling my CPU but made the heatsink extremely hot. Gave up on it a few months later...

    I appreciate the detailed feedback.

Aside from the contacts, it looks like 2 or 3 traces (all around the plastic shielding between the fingers and the PCB) are frayed or in bad shape. I can take a few more pictures tonight.

I'm thinking of doing a ROM/CIC transplant with a donor cart (a handful of wrestling games and/or THPS 2/3 look like they would fit the job). It would at least be the best route to preserve Smash Bros, then I could work towards restoring the PCB with the ROM I don't care about as much.

How many layers is a N64 cart? Are they just double sided??

Maybe someone should get some new ones made?

Well. At least it's not as bad as a LOZ I just for n64. The cart pin part of the pcb literally cracked off on side...

Tinning the fingers will only cause damage to the cart slot, I tried to repair a cartridge many moons ago and even a tiny amount of tinning causes a very noticeable amount of resistance to insertion.

Might be a cart out there with everything you need that is dirt cheap and merely needs the ROM moved. Forget the CIC.

There are only 12 games that use SRAM and all SRAM games use the same chips. Any of these can be used as a donor cart, just transplant the Mask ROM and in if needed the CIC (zelda uses an uncommon CIC)

TarnX on the contacts. Let it dry for a few hours (I had a really messed up cart I let it dry over the course of a couple days), and give it a shot. Though that is a very very messed up cart.
