Recently got an 2600 (Vader) and gave it an composite mod. That mod seemed to work fine for a few times but after a while gave increasingly more glitches with each power cycle. First blocks in the screen, then the games where effected by the power switch (in combat suddenly the tanks moved), then the image stopped working and just getting a buzzing sound and now I only get a black screen without sound.

    What could cause this issue?

Have you opened it back up yet? Check your work first, post some pictures.

Remove the mod, does it function now?

That was the first thing I did and nothing seemed out of the ordinary and with the multimeter everything also seems to check out fine.

https://imgur.com/a/JR2qHwo (normally the image is black, occasionally some tone plays. And if I leave the console on for ages without power to discharge everything it boots fine but doesn't play without it going crazy. And even when it boots "fine" it still has graphical issues with some parts of the screen being clearly lighter than others)

I used this schematic [IMG] except I used a 2N3904, which seems to be a common replacement for the 2N2222.

Update for people in the future:
playing with the chroma dial somehow fixed it...
