Very good info guys! Even though I'd like to see more software for the M2, I'm already so grateful for what I've found, mainly thanks to the community on this forum. A few years ago when I got my M2, I was pretty sure I'd never get past the please insert disc screen. Curious to know about the gamepad stuff too since mine didn't come with one. I've seen the 3-button 3DO pads, but no 6-button pads. Also, I noticed some sort of expansion socket inside my M2, when I cracked the case. Anyone know what it's for?
I'm going to upload everything once I get it, if I get it.. Taking suggestions for file hosts.. I hear MegaUpoad is coming back.
Once I decide on a host and start uploading stuff I'll post it here. Not sure if I'll ever get everything or not.. it's really hard to find this stuff. I was thinking about amassing some free Dropbox storage and using that. I think people can download w/o creating an account.
Cool thing, simbin! By the way streetfighterpad(for IMSA racing) doesn't have more buttons then the regular 3DO pad....view change still impossible!
I suggest just finding someone with web space thats willing to serve it themselves, most of the file hosts are pretty darn slow now
I've been giving this a lot of thought for that reason and also because of the annoying amount of DMCA take-down requests being issued lately. I don't want to keep uploading this stuff... my upload speed sucks! On another note: I finally got around to testing the GM Cadillac disc w/o success. I used a Verbatim AZO DVD-R and the disc gets read for a long time, but then prompts to Insert disc... I'm not sure if I need a second disc or what? Anyone know anything about this? thanks
I'm curious about what you got? To my knowledge, there's been no import releases. The good news is... discs can be turned into ISOs.
There is, but nothing was ever even as much as finished as IMSA Racing. All other games that were in development had a completion level of 50% or below, making them tech demos at most. Why is that? Because it was very hard for developers back then to get dev hardware. Most had to work with old, outdated dev cards. Only IMSA Racing was developed in-house, so they always had access to the latest hardware, libraries, docs etc. You can only change perspective by using a proto M2 control pad. It's not possible with any other controller.
Very strange that 3DO only developed one game in-house....not a very smart move. About the pad, a friend of mine said you only have to find the 2 correct pins on the hardware and link them to trigger the command. By the way which button on the proto pad is responsible for the view change! Another guy said if you link a lot of 3do pads together maybe one of them activates view change..
They didn't work on only one game, but Studio 3DO wasn't as huge as you may think. Most of the people were assigned to IMSA. Also, only IMSA was a pipeline game (launch title). Studio 3DO's other projects were of much lower priority. That's all nonsense. The 3DO pad doesn't work the way those old Atari pad/sticks did. You can't trigger something by connecting pins; there's a serial data transmission protocol behind. Pressing a button sends a command code to the console and only the M2 proto pads can send the command needed to switch perspective in IMSA, because only there it's stored in the micro-controller's microcode.
