Dunno if this is the right forum, but; I recently got an RGB cable for my euro PS1 (old model) while ordering some other stuff, that was supposed to output RGB, but I seem to only get the naff composite signal when connecting it to the TV no matter what. Tried both the plasma and the CRT and neither will switch to RGB with it (plasma will even show input type briefly when switching inputs). Opened the cable and it looks ok, everything wired in the SCART end at least. What could be the problem and what do I need to check to make it switch proper? (Does it really need 3V on pin 16?)
I had exact the same problem when I bought an RGB cable a few months ago. Pin 16 needs 3V otherwise TV does not know that RGB is available. You can easily fix that. Solder a wire via a suitable resistor (~75-180 ohms) from pin 8 to pin 16: http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/gamescart/gamescart.htm#psx
Right you are mdmx! Opened it up again and yeah nothing connected on pin 16, salvaged an 100ohm resistor from som old crap I had in storage... 5 min with my ghetto soldiering iron and we have RGB!! :cool-new:
