Hi, I recently picked up a Japanese Neo Geo CD (Top Loader) for cheap. I played Metal Slug on it through S-Video as I did not have a Neo Geo RGB cable and it has a built-in S-Video plug. I then ordered an RGB SCART cable from retrogamingcables, and when I tried to play Metal Slug with it, there were weird dark lines popping up. I opened the cable on both ends and it looked fine to me. Still, I tried to add 220uF capacitors on the R, G, B and Sync lines as there weren't any, but it didn't change anything. Here are two photos that compare S-Video and RGB (I'm using an old Samsung LCD TV btw): S-Video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nmnbj1ltulhtbuu/S-Video.jpg?dl=0 RGB: https://www.dropbox.com/s/expru5wj8mifngk/RGB.jpg?dl=0 It might not look like much, but those weird lines are actually fluctuating and moving when the background scrolls, which makes it extremely annoying when playing. Do you know how to fix it?
Yes, it's wired exactly like that! Actually, ground was only connected to pin 18, so I have connected pin 17, 13, 11, 5, 4 and the outer shell (21) to it, but again it has not changed anything Also, as a side note, pin 20 of the SCART plug was connected to pin 7 of the AV plug as it carries composite sync, but apparently only on (early?) AES models because it's actually carrying regular composite video on my NGCD. I tried to connect the wire to pin 3 instead but of course there is no difference. Update: Well, I should have done a little bit more testing before posting, I used another TV and it works fine. But it's weird because I never had any problems with RGB from any other systems on this TV. Well I guess I should consider getting an upscaler...
