While I have definitely supported Corey's efforts, because there probably is some sort of 64DD stuff on those disks. But, I never understood why everyone believed it was Mother 3...

Couldn't M3 be anything... Or is there a similarity between the way these disks are labeled and previously found protos.


On another note I still am quite excited. Those of you like kammedo and Barcode who have some insight into 64DD emulation might consider contacting the guy. Perhaps, once he gets a file dumped you can have him send it to you and the others working on this to try and get it emulated.

I find it pretty hard to believe that N would let something like M3 out of their hands ever. However, corey does have these things going for him:

- authentic 64dd dev disks
- sold as mother3 from "reliable source"
- spans 4 disks, which sounds about right for a long-ass game like earthbound

Does anyone know what the data retention life of these disks is? I'd hate to see them turn up corrupted.

Hmm... I was unaware that the disks were sold to corey as mother 3. I guess then indeed this makes things more interesting. I thought the guy simply stumbled upon some blue disks.

I don't find it hard to believe that companies sometimes let things out of there hands. They do have thousands of people working for them. People trade jobs, People bring stuff home. Designers who work for years on a project only to have it canned, definitely often want a token of their hard work. Stuff like this happens all the time I'm sure.

Hmm... Good read and great interview. I'm glad to know some more about the source of those disks. Too bad the seller indeed was unsure about the contents...
