I much prefer Vice City, which I just got for my PS2 at long last (after playing the PC version on and off for years!) San Andreas has too many Barbie side quests IMO.
They need to take the series online, with live. Real time turf wars, car racing, police chases coming across your path while you quest. Some crazy stuff.
Indeed If any console had GTA online Id buy it just for it. Quite poss the only thing GTA need to make it a perfect Game for me.
Saint's Row had online, but it took itself too seriously, imo. I like having a game where you can drive Jets and Tanks with no experience whatsoever. If I wanted to play a game thats extremely realistic, I'd rather just go outside. But anyways, there IS an online GTA:SA for the PC. And also, if something like this was to come to a console, you'd know it would have more kiddies on it than Halo.
I wouldn't want to play GTA online permanently in a persistent world unless they also let you play as the cops. Cops and robbers online FTW!
Best Video Game Commercial Ever? Surely that accolade should go to the original Ocarina of Time ad - "Whilst thou get the girl...or play like one?" Hilarious sexism FTW.
Didn't the Paper Mario ad have a similar sexist commercial? Anyways, I find it odd that they could take voice samples from GTA:SA in a commercial WITHOUT them sounding like they had tourette's syndrome. Tourette's syndrome, btw, is a condition where you might yell out swears frequently and with little to no reason.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=J4UnpwPSlRY Still my favorite VG comercial (you'd never exspect this from nintendo).
heh nice ad. I just liked the way GTA:SA didn't pull any punches. You're basically going to go around jacking cars, shooting people, and blowing stuff up. It was advertising the delivery of exactly what you wanted from that game. Coke has a funny spoof of GTA now. The animated character walks down the street, yanks someone out of their car, then hands them a coke and a smile. Lemme see...yep, it's on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfhZfSVuup4 I'd only seen the 30 second version. This is the 60 second version which is heavier on the singing and dancing...eh... I loved Vice City on the PC, but GTA:SA on PS2 I just couldn't get into. I was waiting for the "wow" factor but after an hour of spray painting, working out, and basically driving around I guess I never really caught anything that made me want to continue.
SA was too big and lacked the ridiculously high design bar set by VC and the motivation for the protagonist was seriously weak. I never finished San Andreas, yet I still play Vice City once in a while just to cruise on a bike at sunset to the soundtrack. I've just bought VCS almost solely for this purpose.
@phinn I don't think GTA SA was too big. It was big, but not too big. I have played it for more than 60hrs till now and still have to get the last 12%. Its motivating as hell if you love the setting (which I do due to my obsession to the southwest of the USA).
Probably because Nintendo had very little to do with it? They tried to distance themselves from BFD as much as possible - it wasn't even published by them, but rather Rare (and THQ in Europe). Check out da' 'pedia: "NOE refused to even acknowledge the game in their Nintendo Power publication, and all advertising was limited to late-night cable television and ads in Playboy." ...no wonder the ad was a little more....<ahem>....risqué.
Yeah, the soundtrack in SA = WEAK. I hate Rap music. However, you CAN uses custom soundtracks in the Xbox version, so you could play VC music in SA. Nothing's better than running over people while the theme song to "I love Lucy" is playing.
A couple of my Sega faves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuf-1GRhKsc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PufS2i6PoKQ
I still think the Sony UK adverts were the best. Chris Cunningham - 'Mental Wealth' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpBPi4CjDMQ Frank Budgen - 'Double Life' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuiEKm5dDrY
