So yeah... I'm getting gas at the Gas Station and pay with my check card to get a lovely, card declined, which is MOST embarrassing not only that, but I have to call my dad who essentailly has to pay for the transaction. So I go to check my balance online and find out I have -121.31. I ask myself, "Well now, how can that be? I RARELY use my card and I ALWAYS make sure to check if I have the cash if I do use it." So I go and bring up the transaction history and pull up all my statements. I add everything up. I have, in fact Much more than -121.31. My total is somewhere around the +180.00 range, as I thought it was. WAY TO LEARN HOW TO DO ADDITION IDIOTS! Apologies if that sounds rude, but discovering this is in fact their fault and causing me such embarrassment, I feel I should be somehow compensated for not being able to use my money, I mean it is my money isn't it? What right do they have to just deny me being able to use it? Upon further inspection it turns out the tellers made quite a few mistakes of their own. For one, they used something called VTXTLR, not the wonderful service I paid for that allows me to see my checks scanned in, who handled them, etc. VTXTLR (I discovered after some minor googling) is a generic teller transaction ID. Not only that, but to FURTHER throw me off, I discovered they accidentally keyed in wrong amounts to deposit into the account at first, so at at first glance I was abffled where phantom 60 dollar deposits were coming from and where my 160 dollar deposits went. However, without them using the service I paid for, I have no way to tell if it was some crook sticking money there for safe keeping, or a teller keying in the wrong amount, and later realizing it and correcting it a few transactions (or even days for that matter) later. But WAIT! Theres yet MORE to this tale! I apparently have some sort of over draft protection that was never explained to me. It looks like a 200 dollar cushion, but is apparently causing me to get 3 seperate readouts for my account balance. So apparently, -121.31+200.00 means I have only 78.69 in the account, yet on the transaction history page I have the following line " Current Balance: 203.38 ". So I ask to you people of Assembler... should a bank know how to add?
Only took my checks 3 weeks to arrive, and three tries to get my debit cards in properly at good old First Hawaiian Bank.
