i personaly think it's all or nothing for ninty. So no zelda on anywhere else than on console marked nintendo on it.

let's take things on the brigth side, Square-enix now consider ninty as a choice of platform, wich is a pretty good point for them. they just need to open their minds on third party publishers and online gaming, and i perosnally think they could finally take a good place in the competition.

  2. Back to Silverbolt's comment, I'd have to agree with Anti - the G5 processor and Sony's CELL/Emotion Engine technology are nothing alike, and I believe Microsoft will most likely be going with NVidia on display chips again this time, while Sony will once again go with a custom chip. That right there doesn't sound anywhere close to 99% similar.

And let's not even begin talking about what a heyday the DCMA lawyers would have with a console '99%' the same as the others.

I'm sure hoping Nintendo has a good idea with Revolution, but it's hard to be optimistic when they are so behind the times (gamers don't want online play!). I just hope they don't get too funky with their hardware designs, as it would be suicide if they came up with some fancy new control scheme or something that made ports from other systems nearly impossible...

    Upcoming Systems

GSL> It's fairly common knowledge that the Xenon is *not* using nVidia hardware, but rather ATI hardware. ;)

They can say that now but if/when it comes down to it I don't think they'll have a choice in the matter. They're a public company arent they? So I'm pretty sure if Iwata shutdown Nintendo when plenty of money could be made through going 3rd party shareholders could sue the fuck out of him.

In the handheld market yes. Console no. FF:CC was a gimme to open the doors for Handheld dev. I think Nintendo even payed for a great deal of the dev costs through the Q fund.
Once they got full access to the GBA they dropped all interest in the GC.

Yep. Sony's the one going with Nvidia this time.

Is that an Iwata quote? The "out of consoles, out of the business" one.

It sounds like Hiroshi Yamauchi bravado to me. The old man is gone (although who can say how much influence he still does/does not hold).

I love Nintendo, I don't want to see them go anywhere, but if it comes to that, I'd rather see them keep making software than just cease to exist altogether.

I mean, look at who works there. Even if the Big N disappeared altogether tomorrow, you think people wouldn't be jumping at the chance to hire Shigeru Miyamoto away? The talent shall live on, although I'd prefer that it live on AT Nintendo, just like I think everyone else here would.

Actually, Mario Party that is online would be quite fun.

  8. My bad, although I suppose if some of us don't have it right it could hardly be called 'common knowledge'. ;-) My point was that much like the XBox, Microsoft will be having a custom graphics chip that will be very similar to current consumer hardware, but not totally so.

And I think the 'out of consoles, out of the business' crap was indeed Yamauchi - judging by the pigheadedly traditional 'if we cannot do it our way, we won't do it at all' it sounds about right. :smt009 Nintendo would really benefit if he would just up and die - even while no longer in charge, he still manages to have the company gripped around his skewed idea of what gamers want. It's a surprise that the DS even got released.

I Don't think like that at all personally. When they says they are not in it to compete against xbox and playstaion this next time around it almost sounds like you are afraid they might be able to pull something substancial off rather than only going in the direction of craappy gameplay and uber hot graphics = teh shit.
