Hi. I decided to J-TAG my 360. It is a FALCON 08 model and at the moment, I have been following this guide: http://gbatemp.net/topic/199707-guide-for-installing-jtag-hack-and-xbreboot/ My soldering is fine, and so is my cable. I have dumped my NAND fine, and I have read it fine as well as written to it fine. I have gone thorough the guide all the way to the last step. Problem is, when I turn my 360 on, the fans kick up to max and I get the RRoD. If I flash my original NAND dump back, everything works fine. Any suggestions as for users who have done this before? If someone tells me to re-flow, I will snap :mad-new:.
If you're sure the soldering is fine, then it sounds like a bad image. Try using a different program to build the image and flash that back instead. Try something like xeBuild to start with, just to confirm that it CAN boot a modded image with the JTAG wiring in place.
did you build your image with the correct aud_clamp options? does the rrod happen immediately or after a while? can you try new diodes? they are somewhat sensitive, perhaps one went bad?
Turns out my dashboard is to new and this is the result of trying with incompatibility. Oh well. I flashed my drive anyway so at least I can play backups (backups... rofl).
More importantly.... is your console running an old enough dash to jtag it? Anything made since june 09 OR updated since then cant be jtagged - ever. Edit: You beat me to the reply by seconds. You could do the RGH instead though.
Dont forget to clear the SMC or whatever its called. (Let you Xbox off and disconnected from power for a while) My CB was old enough and Dash but my first attempt at Jtag failed thx to the SMC remembering the old code instead of loading my just NAND flashed new one. (Did andother Jtag later, same problem...waited 5 minutes and then it worked Jeej) So, what Bad_Ad84 says. And Hope the quote is correct. Anyway, mine was good, and it works. else go RGH (Timming attack) Be patience, thats what saved my mood and finally fixed the hack.
i think my old guide still works pretty good for this, but i would swizzy's xebuild gui for building the images just to be sure
nothing beats Rogero's 360 Multi Builder when it comes to building images, either for JTAG use or RGH use including ECC building...
Well I flashed my drive that night successfully. I can now play 'backups'. As for the JTAG, I will wait for Team Xecuter to hack the 5773 falcon (I cant remember my dash version).
I lucked out when I jtag'd and had a launch xenon still sitting in a closet, I didn't even have to wire up a NAND cable I just used the king kong exploit to dump, patch, and flash
