Hi, I just got a few Jaguar CD units in my shop to repair and I wanted to tap into the general wisdom of the community.

The unit that I am trying to fix does the following:
When powered on, with a known to be good AC adapter, with or without a disc in, it tells me to plug the Ac adapter, via a picture.

Here is what I have tried:
-The Jaguar console works fine with another known to be good CD unit and to be sure it's not being picky, I tested with another console and I got the same results.
    - The CD unit is properly inserted into the console.
-The AC adapters work fine on other units.
-The female jack on the back of the CD unit works fine because I can measure voltage on the pins on the PCB.
-I replaced the Edge connector with a known working one.
-I cleaned the edge connector slot on the CD unit with contact cleaner.
    - Game carts work OK on the CD attachment, even though without a cart you get the connect power logo on the screen.
    - I swapped the entire transport unit with another of the exact model, known to work and I still get the same problem.
    - I installed the CD transport of the defective unit into a working one and the transport too is not working, not surprised there
    - The door switch works fine.
    - The capacitors have been replaced.

So I know pretty much that the issue is on the PCB, what could be causing this?

I don't own one and am only going on what I have heard, but apparently the spindles on Jag-CDs that hold the disc in place can be depressed, and they need a yank or something to get them in the proper position and working again...could that be it?

If it is, my fee for this expert advice is one working Jag-CD, please :p

Thanks for the input, but since the part you suggest is included in the transport, and I replaced that entire part with a known working one, we can safely deduce that this was not related to that issue.

The main jaguar unit has no reverse polarity protection on the DC input (from the AC adapter) which fries the DC-DC regulator circuit. My guess is that your CD unit has a similar issue if it is not "seeing" the AC adapter. Can you send a picture of the PCB top? I can help a lot more with a picture. Also, just follow the DC voltage input and see what chip(s) the circuit goes to. But I wouldn't plug it in more until you find what circuit fried.
Here's a youtube video I made on the issue:
