I've found this page: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Atari_Jaguar Is this true? Translated as Underage She-Male???? I know that Jaguar in Japan was a disaster but I didn't imagine it so bad...
The Uncyclopedia is a bit like Wikipedia... except everything is not true, false, lies, etc. (uncyclopedia would be the opposite of encyclopedia, get it?). It's the Wiki equivilent of The Onion. i would assume that anything on there isn't what it says.
hehe - my favourite line is: "Atari's board loved the new design even more than the refurbished 2600 they had seen months ago, but insisted the console was given "an already well-known automotive" name. After much debate, Jaguar edged out Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Yugo, and Edsel. " I bet they didn't even realise that while trying to be funny they actually hit on the real reason the Jaguar was so named...
OOkkkk!!!! Now I feel completely idiot You can delete everything if you want, or leave it here to remember me how idiot I am
yep - please read my interview with Martin Brennan at: http://www.konixmultisystem.co.uk/testing/index.php?id=interviews&content=martin#start It explains the car naming connection. btw - the sites nowhere near finished and ready for general public consumption
Don't know about that one i'm afraid but the car association definately came before the big cat one did.
I was just being facetious. As I read somewhere, it was a play on the 8 (16? 663?) player Linking capabilities of Epyx's Handy system. A great website there!
hehe - people tell me I'm gullible - I'm not so sure... Before I knew of the car connection stemming from the Panther project I had asked Martin "why the big cat naming policy?" - Which is where that little nugget came from. He didn't really know about the Lynx (unsurprisingly really). Thanks for the kind comments - I need to kick into top gear for the final push to get the website done, it's been a struggle fitting it into my spare time, but it'll definitely happen sooner than later.
