For those forumites that actually in Japan what are your ten (10) thing that you wanna do in japan and you ain't of yet bbefore you died. for example... 1 see sumo game 2. Go to Disney land 3. Take a bullet train 4 etc - 10? you can state how long you having been living there. kinda think it will be cool to hear!
I've been here for almost a decade now and I don't really do touristy things like never been to Kamakura, Hakone, Fuji or Tsukiji, only went to Asakusa when a family relative wanted to go, never been to Tokyo Tower or Skytree, etc 1. Go to Kyushu and eat a bunch of famous tonkotsu ramen (been there before but didn't do that) 2. repeat 1
1. See an NJPW Wrestle Kingdom show in the Egg Dome 2. Eat a steak at Ribera while Akebono is there 3. Get a Ribera jacket (might be hard!) 4. Get another pair of jeans (seriously, the Edwin jeans I bought in Japan are my favorite jeans. Seven and a half years later, I still get compliments on them) 5. Tokyo Auto Show 6. Get a reasonably priced PCE Duo & SuperGrafx 7. Go to one of those DDT shows in a supermarket or campsite or train station or whatever: http://youtu.be/naFhI58NAqg?t=6m40s 8. Go to DDT's Dropkick bar in Shinjuku I've been to TGS & a baseball game in Japan last time I was there. I've eaten all kinds of crazy things you'll never see out west. I don't feel a huge need to go back, but I'm just a gaijin who is way too much into video games and プロレス.
Wow... you think you know someone. Even if I ate meat, I really don't think I could stomach standing in line for something that smells like a rotting corpse for blocks.
There's gotta be a story behind that. I just assumed it was one of those things that Japanese people put up with... like freezing your fucking ass off indoors in the winter.
Hmm, I don't really have "bucket lists" (I don't much like the phrase either). I guess I'd like to visit Hokkaido and Shikoku, to have visited the 4 main islands. My favourite smell in Tokyo is the drains. Pure sulphur. It's best when you catch the eye of a pretty lady, and then an overwhelming stench makes you gag.
I'm trying to figure out which of my neighbors took a shit in their sink, the stench of which reaches my sink.
I always thought that Tokyo smell was more akin to slightly festy cabbage. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that one!!
I'm going to try to make it to Kyoto and Osaka during cherry blossom season this year. Never thought Tokyo smelled that bad, of course I've lived in some pretty shitty places. Within a mile of a paper mill was the worst near Savannah. Makes everything smell like ass. Of course my favorite things about Japan are all the Engrish signs and Tshirts, and that no matter how fucking cold it is outside, you will see Japanese girls in mini-skirts. The mini-skirt is never out of season in Tokyo.
I go to Japan every summer for a few months. I miss my friends there. Sure, I was born and raised in USA, but because of my parents nationalities, in a complicated manner that I won't discuss, I have dual US/Japan citizenship, so I technically can live in either country unrestricted. It gets a bit annoying sometimes though because everyone uses a suffix to their name in Japan. I am turning 20 but they still call me "Chris-Kun", which Kun is used to describe a teenager in JA.
Not in actual use though. It's used on adults regularly, depending on the situation (and more importantly who is doing the one talking). Enjoy it... you'll be an old bastard one day. Like Yakumo and I.
Didn't know there was a Disney Land Park in Japan. Now i have a big excuse for summer holydays, in Japan, my wife and daugher, wants to go to Paris every summer just for visit Disney Land, Park, hahahaha
I've always wondered if Kyushu No. 1 Star Ramen exists in real life. Is there a place in Kabukicho with the best Kyushu-style ramen or might one really have to visit the city?
