I am looking to pickup a Neo Geo and possibly a 64dd while I'm here. Anyone have any suggestions on shops to check out. I'm staying in Tokyo but going down to Hiroshima and Osaka and may have a translator depending on the day. I'm also looking for an XRGB mini if anyone can point to shops that have those. Thanks!

Hard-off always have good deals, so keep an eye out for one of those (they're all over the place). In terms of physical stores, Traders 1 over in Akihabara tends to have a fair selection for a decent price (they also have the xrgb mini for the best price I've seen). If you were staying for a long period, I'd recommend checking out yahoo auctions!

Thanks for th tips! I was in Traders and did not spot the mini but I may have overlooked it. I'll keep my eyes open for those other stores. This is the first of many trips so I may be able to browse some auctions in the future with a bit of planning.

Which Traders were you in? There's like 4 of them but only Traders 1 has older retro stuff. You should be able to find the xrgb mini in a glass cabinet with the AES games on the floor that has the older game consoles.

I'd also recommend checking out Super Potato, they're usually overpriced, but they're worth visiting just for the sheer selection they have.

Went in to traders 1 but only found xrgb-3. I did happen to come across a cheap 64dd randnet starter set with the clear gray n64. Anymore suggestions on where to look?

Ask the clerk at Trader if they have anymore in stock. Take a printout if your Japanese is bad or non existent. They keep additional stock behind the counter. I bought one from them last time I was in Japan.

There is a small shop around the corner from Club Sega which stocks Micomsoft products in Akiba:

(it's the blue one; Club Sega is the 2nd orange square to the right of it)
It's in the little alley street between Club Sega and the Drugstore, next to Radio Department Store on the ground floor.
If you hit the KFC or the Trader store across from the KFC, turn around, you went too far and you passed it.

They charge a little more than Trader but they should have them in stock.
You can see it easily on Google Maps.

If you've yet to go to Osaka, check out Nipponbashi - there's only a couple of shops that are worthwhile, but they are decent. There's a Sofmap on the same street which can have some decent stuff. Game Tiger more towards Namba station is also OK, but mostly overpriced à la Super Potato.

From what I could tell, Hiroshima doesn't have much, but there's a few shops around the main station.

Not sure if you're still after it or not, but I found that Radnet set at Akiba Super Potato, 4th floor in the case, just now for 98000yen.

The Framemister Xrgb mini is sold out all over Japan. Even Micomsoft don't have any. I know of because that's where I get my stock from. They should be back I stock around mid to late November.
