So I really want a working pair of the Sega 3D glasses for my sega master system. It seems like I can find the Japanese ones a little cheaper but I can't find anywhere as to wether they would work on my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes they can. You can even use the Famicom 3D System glasses on the Master System and Genesis. Many 3D HDTVs use these same type of glasses too so they should work as well.
I apologize, i have no idea why I wrote genesis...I meant the master system. Sorry for that, it's been a long day..lol.,
Lol it's ok. To answer your question, yes it will work on a US Master System. If you happen to have a Japanese Master System (looks like a US one but has a smaller cart slot and some awesome extra features), the 3D glasses adapter is built-in and has the 3.5mm jack on the front for it. These units are rare though.
Unfortunately I don't have the Japanese master system, bidding on a US master system now and while going over accessories online I saw the glasses and thought "oh man, got to get those!"..lol. I finally found a discussion about this very subject with someone who owns one after days of searching and it looks like the glasses will indeed work as you said, I just need the US adapter. Thanks so much.
You're welcome. You can mod the Master System to use the Japanese adapter. I think you just need to put the system in Japanese language mode using a SPDT switch. It might need more stuff though.
The Power Base adapter is like a US SMS so it will need the adapter for the card slot to be able to use the 3D glases. So if you buy a Japanese glasses set you will still need the card slot adapter, which doesn't come with it as the Japanese SMS has the adapter hardware built into the unit.
