anyone knows about some japanese books like famicomplete about complete software releases? pce md and sfc ones will be pretty interesting
Well, there are some other Famicomplete-like books out there, a bit cheaper (and more compact, even). I am aware of the "For Megadrivers Custom" commemorative book, but I haven't looked through it. I don't know about commemorative books for other systems, but there are plenty of "DaiHyakka" (encyclopedia/game catalogue) books for various systems like the GameBoy, PC-Engine, SFC, PSX, Saturn...
"For Megadrivers Custom" is pretty good, though like most of these things you will get 90 percent more out of it if you can read the Japanese that accompanies the pics. You might also want to check out the "tech" series of books. They have a bunch of screens and anecdotal fun stuff. But again you prob need a bit of Japanese to get the most out of them. Slam these in Amazon.jp - 超ファミ 1445タイトル完全網羅エミュレータブック 裏テク遊戯団STAGE04 GB1236タイトル完全カタログ アスペクトムック
I have a Virtual Boy complete catalogue book that is quite rare but there is not much inside, it has box pictures but the pages are only printed in black & white. There is a Virtual Boy Famitsu one too but I don't know anything about that one. I think the Super Famicom ones are all emulation based and only have screenshots and not any box pictures like the Fami-Complete book.
thank guys, with your hints I started my search, DaiHyakka always proclaims themself as complete, perfect, etc. but often they were printed when software production for the console was not yet ended, so they're far from being very complete, like famicomplete e for megadrivers custom seems to be 超ファミ 1445タイトル完全網羅エミュレータブック is based on emulation, right?
Yeah it is based on emulation but it has complete software lists and pics in order of release with bits of trivia and mini articles. You might also want to grab "Sega Consumer History" and the "Sekai ichiiiiii!" books for later catalogue style gaming books. BTW that Tech emulation series has the occasional feature on unreleased and pirate stuff. I quite like those books actually. It is the only collection book I have on the original game boy.
"世界いちいいい!" in Amazon or google should do it. ドリームキャストは世界いちいいい! is obviously the one for the DC, claims to be a complete catalogue and there is the saturn version as well. Maybe not your bag but they make a decent read and highlight stuff that you might have missed. Off the top of my head can't think of any more catalogues of software books.
No probs, always nice to share - might want to also glance at "Electronic Game Collectors (70's 80's choice) for some olde hardware lists. Also for the Psone there is the excellent - "10th Anniversary Playstation complete soft catalog" if you want to scare yourself with the thought of getting into Jp PSone collecting!
Great info, cheers. There's a Tokyo Museum Famicom 20th Anniversary book too which isn't bad (although I prefer Famicomplete)
no thanls  that a bit too much for me about the Famicom 20th Anniversary expo i already know about it http://disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/levelx.html it must have been a hell of a show
