They had no fw difference/ locks on them correct? all the reigon locks were on the motherboard/bios side iirc just wanted to double check before i pitched this jap drive that I can't get to read anything on a chipped x2 bios box thanks
Not that I know of. A softmod alone plays most genuine imports. No need for a chip, flashed bios, burnt copies, or even tricking the lid sensor.
Yes DVD-ROM can be swapped around to any Xbox, and any version, with any Hard Disk. The Hard Disks are the only part that is locked to the EEPROM, which holds region data.
Got the drive swapped, and it works great, however xbmc wont play my reigon one dvds, it says they are the wrong region for this console, the ms original dash plays reigon 1 games and dvds fine, Is it because the oringal dash uses my ir dongle, that i bought in the us? and xbmc pulls the region from the mobo? it just seems weird to me reigon free dvd software isn't built into xbmc which is so well developed
Well that's a little odd, but afaik DVDs are basically played through the XBOXDASH. Since UnleashX does the same thing. I honestly wouldn't stress the Xbox drive's laser for DVDs though.
