Sorry if this has been posted before but recently got a boxed gc game boy player japanese bundle and I was wondering what Japnese game cube games are worth buying?
There are some gems. - Kururin Squash (absolute must-buy and super cheap) - Dragon Drive (if you want a shitty rail/arenashooter made by Treasure) - GT Cube (like the GBA racers, cel-shading graphics, not the cheapest GC title) - Nintendo Puzzle Collection (incl. Panel de Pon) If you're into Naruto, then go for Naruto 1-4.
I am not into Naruto and I'd probably hate those games. Darn huge eyes and weirdo unrealistic fights lol.
It isn't bad for an overcrowded genre. Us sane types likely got our fill of that style years ago from one/two of the like nine or so PS2 DBZ games.
You can get Shikigami and all the other shooters for Dreamcast as well (and sometimes for even more platforms).
Giftpia Homeland Doubutsu no mori e+ (this version wasn't released outside of Japan) Donkey konga 1 2 & 3 (track listings are way better on jpn versions) Zelda 4 swords, yes this isn't Japanese exclusive but only the Japanese version had Tetra's trackers which is really fun. Shame nintendo saw fit to strip it out of all other versions, one of the best uses of the gba-gc link cable.
The Gamecube Shikigami will display gibberish font on Non Japanese Gamecubes it's still playable but no Japanese text for some reason.
The reason is because non Japanese cubes don't have the Japanese font set when some games look for it, giftpia also has the same problem if you try to play it on a uk/usa cube it just comes up as ascii junk.
I haven't seen a cube with that language switch. Apparently wouldn't work quite right on mine so I didn't get the mod done.
I fucking hate Naruto, and I really had fun with Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 2. The others, I haven't played at all. Still, if it's cheap, give it a try
Ninja Taisen 3 and 4 are great but be warned 4 is more or less an incremental upgrade with new characters and stages not a full on sequel. from 2 onward they started recycling music/stages
The one obscure GC game that I've always wanted but never got around to buying, was that temple journey game (O-henro or something rather). I think it was based on the 88 temple Shikoku pilgrimage and even included a device to record your footsteps.
You mean this? Actually really nice to play if you love temples, kanji navigation to get around the temples is pretty hard though, it took a while for me to complete but it was fun while it lasted.
What does it look like? Did they include real temples from major cities in Japan that you can wander around freely, like Meiji, Kinkakuji, Ryouanji? I know I mixed temples with shrines, but those are the only ones that came to my mind
