So I just got done playing the Japanese version Gex for 3DO...

    What. The. Hell.

He doesn't talk at all. They just cut all all the voiceover work. Bizarre.

And then from the main menu if you choose PREVIEWS you see a 45 second clip of a basketball game and then it goes back to the Gex opening cinematic. It doesn't even tell you the name of the game or anything... just 45 seconds for little 32-bit pixilated dudes shooting blocky hoops.

    Weird, weird gaming experience.

Hm... is it the same other than that? I haven't played the original Gex much, though I have the Saturn version. I used to really like Gex 2 for PSX.

The intro cinematic has a dubbed Japanese voice for Gex, but other than that it seems te same. Granted, I only played the first two levels. Other than the opening voice of Gex, the rest of the game is in English (including the voice of Rez). It's so strange playing Gex and only hear background music and sound effects.

That basketball thing is really weird as well. It may well be the worst promo ever.

The Japanese Saturn version of Gex has all the bloody voices in it. I hate all that crap. Pointless comments throughout the game. I'm sure the Saturn version also has a preview video but for The Horde if I remember corectly.
