Lately I've been listening to alot of Hip Hop, Del the Funkee Homosapian, Das Racist (and the Solo Work Heems and Kool AD), The Roots, Talib Kweli, Common amongst others. One day I was curious looked up German hip hop as I was curious as to what a Language that comes off as being so harsh would sound in rap form. Before I knew it I was looking up Japanese Hip hop and found the style of J-Hop To be very similar to the rappers I just listed.

I found this channel on You Tube with alot of amazing older stuff going as far back as 1994. http://www.youtube.com/user/VintageHiphopJapan

I Like J pop and J Rock and all but I guess my inner hipster likes J hop because it's not as cliche as J pop and J rock.
So I was wondering if there were any other fans of Japanese Hip hop, or some really Hardcore fans of J hop.

    Old stuff?

    S-word
    Muro
    deli
    tokona-x
    Ds455
    Dabo
    Suiken
    Macka-chin
    Gore-Tex
    Bigzam
    ozrosaurus
    King Giddra
    G.K. Maryan
Zeebra (probably the most known of them I guess)

When gangsta rap took over and good hiphop died, it had no effect, I mean zero on Japan. They have some of the best real beats hiphop and it lives to this day.

That's why the beats are so famous now like DJ Krush

Some other but far more pop names (and some of these are real pop type)
None of them are real hiphop but they have beats that appeal.

    Kick the Can crew
    Orange Range
    Rip Slyme <must hear beats
    Dj Hasebe
    Dj Beat
Toshinobu Kubota (one of the originals)
    Dragon ash
    Bonnie Pink
    Misia
    Kick the can crew
    m-flo

Many of those groups are long gone or changed styles but some good listening.

Hip Hop is universal. If Aliens Exist...I'm sure the first bit of Human Culture they adapted was Hip Hop.

I'm not much of a fan of Vocal Hip Hop but I very much enjoy Jazzy Hip Hop with most of it being from japan. So much better then the crap coming out of the USA (pop/rock).

This was one of the first tastes I had of J hop, as such it slanted more towards J Pop. This is still a song that would be right at home in a Jet Set Radio Sequel....
