    Having bought a used iPad from Janpara last night, I retract my previous statement. My UK SIM card works in it just fine. Wasn't expecting that.

    No idea if the same would happen with iPad 2 or not.

    I bought an original iPad due to price and Jailbreakability.

    Ill get the current iPad then wait for iOS 5 then wait for the jailbreak. The US has free wireless everywhere nowadays so I don't expect the loss of 3G will mean much at this point when I travel home.

    Nice idea. Jailbreak timescale is somewhat unknown at the moment.
