Hi everyone, Ive just got a nice boxed japanese Mega cd1 but I hooked it up and I noticed the music is crackly in the background, I have tried it a few times now and still the same thing, Does anyone have any ideas?? Many thanks.
You have connected the MD with the MCD through the mixing cable? Have you tried outputing the audio with the RCA output? Have you tried using another cable / TV / MD?
Also, which model Megadrive are you using, and did you install the grounding plate? It's unusual, but not unheard of to have RF interference with the MegaCD Mark I and the Megadrive 2 since there's no mixing cable. Also, given the age of these units I wouldn't be surprised to see loose, intermittent solder joints on the connector contacts.
I don't want to sound like a downer but a weak laser can make CDs sound "crackly". I had a Turbo Duo RX that played games but all CD streamed audio was crackly as hell. Soon after that it died Try cleaning the laser  Yakumo
It a Mega cd 1 and a Md one Japanese model, I will try cleaning the laser. I have heard that they do not ship to well and it was shipped from Japan. Thanks everyone.
