Hi, I've bought the japanese version 1.0 of Ocarina of Time and it arrived yesterday. I was pretty surpised as my 64DD starts reading the inserted Mario Artist disc, when I tried to start OoT the first time. I think it is searching for the Ura Zelda DD disc and gives a japanese message because the wrong disc is inserted. I've made a little video of the boot-progress *click* This is a Screenshot of the message I got. Can anyone translate this? *click*
A friend of mine took a quick look at it. Apparently it's a message that basically tells you something along the lines of: Incorrect disk has been inserted. Please insert the correct disk. Please remove/eject disk.
Aw yeah, unfortunately it's only a default "disk insertion" message like Carnivol stated, sorry man. I saw the enthusiasm in your post, which is what I like to see. :icon_bigg And welcome to the forums!
You can also obtain the same error message, if you tried japanese version of F-Zero X, Mario Party 1, Pocket Monster Stadium 1&2 and Dezaemon 3D.
Thanks for the translation! yeah, I've seen the message in F-Zero, but there it has background-graphics. Are these the only games including DD boot codes?
please note that other games supported the DD as well, however, the DD "hooks" code was modified/changed along the way (apparently), hence Lamborghini for example as well as other games, like Mission Impossible and Superman 64 do not behave in the same manner.
Are you sure ? because I read that Nintendo doesn't want share informations to others developpers about 64DD. For Lamborghini 64, the connection to 64DD was just an idea but they don't obtain any informations from Nintendo.
Where did you read that? please post a link. The reason that the dev 64DD does not contain any DDROM unlike the retail version is because nintendo was settled on the final hardware (when the kits were handed out, relatively early on) but wanted to be able to ship to developers different and updated versions of the IPL. This effectively means that they didn't want to wait till the last moment , when the final IPL was ready, to hand out the kits. Also, considering how early on Unreal was being developed with the DD in mind for example, it is unlikely that nintendo "didnt want to share information on the DD". Also, if you have the official SDK there's a healthy amount of DD programming guidance.
