Hello all. I am looking to obtain a Japanese model PS2 console. I used to use the fliptop/swap discs method to play my imports but as that method has proven to not play all games and be flawed(my discs got screwed up during my latest move so I cant use them anymore), I would like to obtain a JP region console in their place...as it will play all the games flawlessly and such.

I am not a picky person..so I do not care if its boxed or not..however the box and docs would be a plus. I do not care which model it is..fat or slim as long as the console is 100% functional and is not missing any parts, and or has been tampered with interally.

I would like for there to be atleast 1 controller included with the console and of course the Power cord and AV cables.

I can not pay via paypal at this moment, so my method of payment would be a money order.

I have never delt with anyone on these forums yet since I started my account so I would perfer to do buisness with someone w/ a good reputation here.

I am looking for JP PS2 shmups as well so if you happon to have any you'd sell/trade to me with the console that would be even better.

I have numerous feedbacks on other sites..www.neo-geo.com and www.gametz.com so I am trustworthy and such...however I know I am new here so I would send 1st in the deal if needed.

Alright, well let me know people!!

    Thanks

Soon you'll be able to play imports, transfer saves from and to the PC, and even boot homebrew apps with just a Memory Card.

Hello all. I am well aware of this..but I would perfer to get an original console. I do not care much for pirating and of that sort...so its alright. Also, I dont want a disc swapping method of any kind. I do not want a secondary method..as they are not 100% compatible w/ ALL games and such. It's easier for me to just deal w/ an official unit.

    Thanks though.

Yes some team in Russia has developed an exploit which lets you use one type of memory card to play imports and backups, all directly booting without any swaps. However, the company producing the memory card already claims they are already working on a protection against this for newer models of the card

Don't bother with the "memory card" that plays backups. It is not 100%. You are right to just buy a japanese system. I think in Japan they still make the midnight blue fat PS2s don't they? Either way I think you have the right idea since you just want to play imports. Alternatively you'd want to get a real modchip.

Get a US GT3 and you'll have all the F1 cars. For the Diablo and other secret cars, just get a gameshark or a codebreaker save at Gamefaqs.

As for the memory card, s1xty is right.

If you are a collector, a japanese PS2 would be fine. But if you are just going to get some games, using a exploit or a modchip would be more fun.

I would buy a japanese PS2 if i found one in decent condition and decent price. But living in Brazil, it's cheaper just to get a modchip.

As long as you get a real modchip. Swap tricks and this new Memory Card + DVD Movie patch aren't 100% compatible, though neither is HDLoader. That and their memory card is super overpriced. And it's clearly a lie that they are going to stop their memory card from working with the pirate software. That was their intent the entire time, no one would pay 70$ for a 32MB memory card that lets you link with USB for downloading save files. You could do save file shit for alot cheaper.

Haha good question. Well to answer this..I Love sega but I am not bias to only play their stuff. There are lots of sega games on PS2 that I like...the Sega Ages 2500 series for one as well as the outrun games and such. Also they are remaking the original NiGHTS for PS2 in japan. Lots of SEGA love there.

Also I want to play all of the import shmups the PS2 has to offer :)

Could somebody elaborate on that new PS2 memory card? Anyone got links?

(not that I need it with my TEST but I'm interested in its workings)

I have a first Japanese PS2 model (SCPH-10000 pcmcia model v0) in mint condition, boxed, with all cables and so on. Works great. I just don't know the price. I can trade it for something connected with Dreamcast maybe or Xbox 360? Maybe even sell, but I don't know the value.
