I wanted to ask if a PSP 1000 running original 1.0 firmware is rare these where the launch psp's from Dec 2004
So there is no reason to hold on to it? Its still brand new in box no downgrades original sony firmware 1.00
If its for collecting purposes then go ahead ( a nice addition I must say ), but if you're wanting to game on it though... that's going to be very limited.
The opening logo of firmware 1.0 is slightly different when you boot up the psp which is neat to see.
Just to clarify, you cannot install 1.00 on newer/custom firmwares. You can easily run 1.50, you can install the 1.00 "bogus" update, but the pure 1.00 is only obtainable by running the 1.50 to 1.00 downgrader, and that requires 2 PSPs, with one of them already on 1.00.
A PSP with FW 1.00 is rare, but only because there's no point to not upgrading. The PSP 1k is inferior hardware and there is nothing it does that the 2k or 3k can't do better.
Your PSP is a bit rare but not in a way that would really add value. Something that might have added value is an unopened launched unit but purely for collection purposes.
its brand new original box all documents sealed battery is sealed and the system itself was powered on using one of my other psp's not a scratch or fingerprint on it
whats the difference between the bogus 1.00 and the original sony 1.00 firmware anyway to tell them apart?
Bogus firmware has really weird stuff like email ability. Okay. You enjoy your 6.60ME on 3k- OOOOHHH sorry, I forgot. Okay then, enjoy your permanent CFW- OOOOHHHH sorry, can't do that either. It's okay, you can use a pandora to downgrade to a better firmware- WOOPSIE! Point made?
IF you didn't open the packaging / use the PSP -at all- you would have had an valuable collectors item. Now it's *just* a used PSP with the first firmware release on it in ultra good condition.
Not really. You can run a 6.60 CFW on any hardware. And the switchable CFWs are much preferred over the fixed ones since it's very easy (and stupid fast) to switch between CFW and OFW that way. No need to spoof versions or security keys for PSN access. If you really want to, you can downgrade by using software, but why would you? A current 6.60 CFW offers more features than older versions. Pandora batteries are obsolete and not needed for modding. Haven't been needed for a long time. Really, the only reason to prefer a specific version is because of hardware. I prefer the 2k because of the screen. I like the look better than the 3k, though some prefer the 3k. The 1k has less RAM than the 2k and 3k, so you are limited on what can stay memory resident. The 1k has longer loading times on retail games due to less RAM. The 1k can't support a mic. The 1k can't do video out (either composite or component). I would rank the UMD capable PSPs as follows (from most desireable to least desireable): 1) 2k 2) 3k 3) 1k 4) E-1k Now that's a personal preference I don't share, but certainly can't argue with as what is comfortable will change from person to person.
That's not entirely true... If it's an original day-one launch machine with the original 1.00 firmware on it and it has NEVER been upgraded in anyway, it still has quite a bit of rarity and collectible value to people that are into these things... Sure, it'd be worth _more_ if it had never been opened, but it's still worth more as it is than any later-released 1000. People simply collect consoles usually always the launch version in it's original state (and just because it is used doesn't matter too much, as long as it's not trashed...) I have one of these myself, also slightly used (but you can't tell by looking at it, other than the box is opened). I also have 3 US launch PSPs bought on the day it was released, and never opened, simply because I collect them. I have an original launch-day DS (the phat), and an original launch-day DS Slim... I know people that go after an initial launch version of _every_ console... I still really want a PSP with Undiluted Platinum professionally installed and working, just for the novelty of it. So, yeah, it definitely has some value... Is it worth tons? No idea (but probably not)... If there's two or more people with disposable income that really want a 1.00 PSP, you might be surprised at the amount you'd get for it... Or it might just sell for $150... I don't think I've ever seen one sell recently to even judge it by... But it's definitely not 'worthless', and I'd say worth more than any other stock PSP with or without CFW. No one would be buying it to _play_, so it's functionality limitations and other lack-of-abilities wouldn't even be a factor. It's a collectible, display piece, etc.
well said man thanks yah back in 2005 i purchased a japanese psp had v1.50 firmware on it then people discovered that firmware v1.00 could run homebrew without altering anything on it so I then started looking for one and the guy I ordered my original psp from japan found me a new one running v1.00 firmware and I knew this one day might become rare so I never used it its still brand new and likw you said I like collecting launch consoles.
