Hallo all! I wonder if anyone can point me to a rarity/price list for Japanese MegaCD games? I've found plenty of what I believe to be complete/near complete listings for releases from the usual places, but nowhere seems to give an idea of rarity. Any shouts would be most welcome, cheers in advance, S.
Thanks GP.. I know of digitpress.com, but for the JapMCD's, a lot, if not all of the games have no rarity grading. The same goes for prices, which if present, of course are biased for an American collectors market. Cheers for the suggestion tho - I appreciate it! S.
I don't know how they come up with these values for a nonexistant market. The Japanese prices don't always translate to what we pay over here. No one in the west would pay $200 for comix zone on megadrive jp.
Indeed! Can anyone at least give me a shortlist of the ones that are considered hard to get, and what sort of money they go for here in the UK? I want move my collection into the Jap side of things, but obviously don't want to pay over the odds - seeing as most sellers will tell you their title is 'OMFG ULTRA-RARE!!".. :110: Cheers again, S.
I'm hesitant to give out any prices for these, but here is a short list of games off the top of my head that are relatively rare to come by. Daihosinden Detonator Orgun Game No Kanzume Sega Games Can Vol.2 Sengoku Densyo
Oh go on, give me an idea. I promise I'll stand between you and the next guy with the flame thrower. Seriously, some rough prices would be mucho appreciated - just so I know what ballpark I'm playing in. I've read that Captain Tsubasa and Anet Again are two of the rarest. But, how does 'rare' equate to £'s ? Cheers, S.
Rare doesn't mean hard to find, the three games I had the most trouble finding where Psychic Detective Series Vol. 4 - Orgel, Heimdall (I've seen this once in 6 years of collecting and I snapped it up) and Dungeon Keeper 2, although annoyingly all of these are showing up more often now, although only seen Orgel twice in the wild. Also note that some games come in first release and second release version, games include Lethal Enforcer 2 (with and without gun), Black Hole Assault (with slipcase and music CD, I've seen the CD being sold seperately for Y3000...) and Keio Flying Squadron (with and without slipcase), etc .Also certain games should have things with them to make them complete, for example Lethal Enforcer 1 should be boxed with the gun, Ranma 1/2 should have a Telephone card (I say should, but the card is sold for about 4000 Yen where the game is sold for much much less then that...), etc Also note that excluding demo CDs there are two extra items that could be deemed Mega CD software, one is BB Queens - Sing! Sega Game Music a Music CD with a Mega CD game on it and Fresh Cleaner, a Mega CD based CD Cleaner, shows some cute foxes brushing a checker board floor whilst the CD cleans your lens head. Good luck on your collection. Won't give prices as these are subject to change and depend on who you buy them from, the last Sega Mega CD games of Fahrenheit and Surgical Strike sell for high prices in Japan but I bought them from a guy in the UK for a quid as they were crap games (and they do suck). ^_^ But as a note, I've completed the collection and the most expensive game was BB Queens - Sing! which cost me about 40 quid (about $70), most of the games were about 200 Yen to 6000 Yen.
This is great info to get me started.. Thankyou muchly.. Seeing as a large number of the titles seem to be easy to come by, I've set myself the potentially stupid target of grabbing sealed ones where possible. I think this is a fetish born of my PAL Euro & growing NTSC US MCD collection, which I really need to get over. Anymore info and insights would be welcome.. Simon.
haha Mine sort of started like that. Im now pushing for a complete Pal Sega Collection. Mind alot of Jap MD CD stuff has been slipped in there due to Yakumo peddling his crack.
Hehehe.. I managed to stay pretty focused whilst completing my PAL set. Now I'm bored, and need a further fix.. :love2: I've started on a sealed US collection, but the Jap is soooo much more purdy... S.
Here's a linky to pics of my collection. http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12586 I've no pictures of the Jurassic Park variations, and I don't yet own (and probably never will) Star Strike. As for a proper list, then there's THE site that got me through the collection, Chris' http://www.sega-mega-cd-library.co.uk/ HTH, S.
Sweet, was always thing of making one super mother of all databases with every game on every console, for the purpose of collectors to use. Recon anyone would want it?
They would if they wanted the Japanese one. Obviously it's not being bought to play it... it's a collectable. Same w/ Vampire Killer running $150 or so. @BlueMagician: YOu can always check out my site (in my sig). It's a start anyway. I try to give an idea on rarity, although it's not 100% accurate. It's also based on how hard it is to find something in Japan. The two MCD rarities I've had (or have) is Keio Yuugekitai (w/ the slip case, but it's in crap condition) and Ninja Warriors (which seems to be way cheaper than it used to be). Popful Mail is another one that's about a 3500 yen purchase in Akihabara, but there's an English version available, so obviously not worth it to the English speaking world.
Except for the dozens of Western JPMD collectors I know ;-) (Let alone the way pricier Acclaim duffers)
What makes me chuckle is that fact that Maximum carniage had a slightly different cover from the European version, must have taken them all of 30 minutes and even funnier the manual is black and white and rather thin.
