japanese VA4 MD stuck in US mode

As the title says, got a Japanese MD that had garbled graphics fixed it up, works beautifully then region modded it for us jp and 50/60hz, worked fine tested with device info with my everdrive then I loaded a few roms, every thing was great. now suddenly it won't switch back to jp mode, I removed the mods jumped jp2 and still won't go back into JP mode, do you guys have aby idea why? 50 60 worked still but no dice on jp mode.

 

Japanese mode is JP1. JP2 is English mode. If I read it correctly, you jumped JP2, which put it in English mode.

 

Figured it out, for some reason the 5v+ signal dissappeared completely. ran 5 v to another spot and bam! The Other odd thing is now it's only a 4 wire mod....... if I remove 5 volts it goes US no jumper, and if I jump just one jumper it switches to 50hz. the weirdest shit I've ever seen and I've modded ALL my other genesis consoles the traditional way ... this is my first Japanese Mega Drive I've ever modded no Tmee 1990 model bought it for 36.99 on ebay with garbled graphics, fixed that (cold solder joints) and then the mod, which worked fine for a bit then just stopped lol. But it's great now!

So am I lol here's a pic of my project, got a Japanese mega cd bezel and trim for my Sega CD from game doctor HK that should be here monday. Since it's got a Mega CD region free that I installed from bad_ad84 and I lost the SEGA CD front name plate.. figured why not go full JDM lol

 

Lol. Quick note about the 32X. If you put the MD in Japanese/60Hz mode, the 32X changes to a Japanese Super 32X and will not play American games until you swap the MD to English/60Hz mode. I recommend the 50/60Hz mod for the 32X so you can play PAL 32X games. To play PAL 32X games, both the MD and the 32X need to be in 50Hz mode. You will need either an extensive mod or an RGB cable to get color though.

I'm actually a little jealous of you lol, I wanted an early model 1 Japanese MD for quite some time but I think I'm gonna wait until I get a game that can't play on my region-modded VA6.5 due to TMSS.

 

O I know about the 32x I have an Everdrive I actually hex edited the rarer pal roms to run without the mod. I don't feel like puting a switch on the 32x for 2 games lol

 

Lol does Darxide run better in 60Hz or is it the same?

 

It runs full speed 60 hz I don't notice any slowdown at all it does slow down if you switch to 50hz

 

Actually I think it crashes if I switch... let me test real quick edit: yes it just slowed down, you can tell it was designed with 60hz in mind not pal optimized at all
