Posted over Nintendoage but did not get a lot of attention. I Licensed the Jim Power Franchise for some future projects. However the original developer had lost a lot of the original assets, but they were able to send me some documents. Oh surprise!!! A Sega Genesis Version was there, Complete 100%. There is an old dump that has only one song, no ending, and graphic differences, but this version is complete, I already played through it. Also, in the folders I found graphics for a Gameboy Version, however no rom unfortunately. Also found all the graphics for Buck Rogers version. To me it seems like The old Genesis Jim Power "The Arcade Game" is The Buck Rogers game, as it is the same with the Buck Rogers Rom that was there. It was a lot of work to land this game title license, but it paid off!
Playing in the emulator for now and It sounds great. However I had a chinese board game those that you can buy in alibaba, and I reflashed it with the Rom and was able to make it boot on a Retron 3, which sound sucks. I will be getting a Genny console to test it out. And I know this might be better to post in a new thread, but Just confirmed the owner of LOBO for SNES. Looking to see if there could be a release of some sorts.
I'm confused, I'm sure there was a mega drive rom of Jim Power years ago. Is this game different from that?
I'm excited about this 100% complete Mega Drive version. Finally we will be able to listen the intended full soundtrack conversion. I even emailed Chris Hülsbeck about this some time ago but he couldn't remember the exact details about converting the whole soundtrack for the Mega Drive. The long-time ROM dump, as said already, only featured one music track and some other missing features.
I want to say it doesn't. It still scrolls backwards of the direction you move, but it is missing the middle back layer you see on the SNES.
Excited to listen to the full soundtrack by Chris Huelsbeck! Interesting. I'm not sure the state of completion or if the roms are available but it would be cool to see how games like Solo flight, FX Fighters, Comanches and Elite would have fared on SNES.
Yes, we hope to make it a major project of ours. The main reason we licensing Jim Power is because we are working into porting it to a major third generation platform. But this will be great too!
