Sega 16 just did a really interesting interview with Joe miller. Must say was surprising that miller revealed they had a version of virtua fighter running on the svp but they ended up just porting to 32x cause of the higher polygon count and cost price. From what he describes though looked rougher than 32x version so I would imagine it was pretty bare this 1 level demo. http://www.sega-16.com/2013/02/interview-joe-miller/ Heres the interview, also nice to hear his side on the whole declining sega relationship and on the nomad(which was completely developed and worked on only in japan) and 32x release.
I thought it was common knowledge that Sega had a version of VF running on the SVP chip. I can't remember where I had read about it but it was in a print mag many years ago in the late 90's
Yeah, I also remember reading about something like that in the old Segabase articles that at least used to be archived on Sega-16. There was also something about the possibility of either an SVP Daytona USA or VF, but in the end they went with Virtua Racing as the first (and only) SVP game.
I was quite surprised to hear that the Nomad was actually developed in Japan, I suppose it did make sense to only release it in the US, though I think it might of sold just as well in Europe because the Mega Drive was pretty popular in the UK.
